Southcott Lower and Swallowfield Lower net silverware
Thirteen teams from 11 Lower Schools played in the annual Leighton-Linslade School Sport Partnership Football Festival last week at Leighton Utd Football Club.

The teams were put into two pools so all schools had five or six matches. We were treated to some excellent football in the pool matches and some superb saves by the keepers.

The top two teams then went on to play off for the cup and the third and fourth placed teams played off for the plate. The semi finals and finals of both these competitions were closely fought with the final of the cup being decided on penalties after extra time had been played.

The winners of the cup were Swallowfield Lower School and the winners of the plate were Southcott Lower School.

School sport co-ordinator Chris Boardman thanked Leighton United for hosting the event and all the young sports leaders for their help throughout the day refereeing and recording results.

It was fantastic to see so many children having fun and showing such great football skills.
