Heath Panthers U12s win shield competition at MK Dons
LEIGHTON CORINTHIANS
Leighton Corinthians U8s
Corinthians U8s final match of the season saw a performance full of grit and determination. Captained by Joshua Harding-Mant, Corinthians held Moretonville Jrs Wanderers for the first half but they pulled away in the second half despite a superb hat trick from Ellis Capp. Man of the match went to Jack Dean for his untiring work in both attack and defence.

Preston Gawcott 3
Leighton Corinthians U10 1
This was always going to be a tough tie without the full team. For the first 15 minutes, Corinthians were playing six against seven. The six defended well but a lapse in midfield allowed Preston to score. Moments later Corinthians had seven players and started to battle back. However a quick attack allowed Gawcott to go two up. Chris Tydings battled well in midfield, Captain Nathan Wilson mesmerised the home defence with his dribbling, Goalie Ryan Eaton made saves to keep the score down and Harry Reid made sure the defence were busy. Just before half time Corinthians went to six again when the very impressive Harry Cropper limped off following an heroic effort in defence.

The half time break allowed Cropper to recover and Corinthians took the game back to Gawcott. Tom Adams went close to scoring, Sean Hull worked hard in midfield and Eaton now out on pitch gave his all by attacking and defending.

In goal, Tydings kept the game alive with some great saves but could do nothing to stop Gawcott's third. Cropper and Wilson also went close to scoring before Reid ran clear of the defence and fired in his first goal for this season. MoM was the hard working Cropper.

Leighton Corinthians U17 4
Heath Panthers 3
The unofficial title decider! After losing 3-0 in their previous meeting, Corinthians were looking for revenge to put them in the driving seat for first place at the end of the season. They soaked up a lot of pressure in the first minutes of the game, but found themselves 1-0 up thanks to an Ottaway goal, as he found himself one on one with the Heath keeper who was then helpless. However, Corinthians then allowed Heath to score twice, one a free header from a corner and the second a Dixon mistake. Just before half time, good communication between Clarke, Mitchinson allowed Ottaway his second. 2-2 half time.

Corinthians came out in the second half and created the more chances with Morgan's Defence forcing Heath to long range shots. Then the breakthrough came when Del Giacco bombed passed the Heath wing back and rifled a left foot drive into the top corner. 3-2 and they needed another to make victory sure. Del Giacco stepped up to the plate when a dubious free kick was given for handball, and bent it over the wall and into the bottom corner. With just 11 minutes to go Corinthians came under pressure again from Heath's corners, as they grabbed a third goal. But they held on!

With just two games to go, the championship is a definite possibility after this local derby win.

Newton Longville 3
Leighton Corinthians U17 8
Another victory for Corinthians moves them one step closer to the title. All the damage was done in the first half as they found themselves 6-0 up at half time. It didn't take long for Ottaway to score a routine goal against the ten men of Longville. Clarke who was involved all goals scored on the day played Mitchinson through for his first of two goals to make it 2-0. Nash then made it three with a quality turn and placement. Mitchinson then grabbed the fourth, neatly lobbing an onrushing keeper. Ottaway smashed home the fifth. Ottaway looked likely for his hat trick until he was fouled just outside the area. The resulting free kick was hammered onto the bar and in by Gregory to make it 6-0.

Longville came out the better team and deserved to score 2 goals as Corinthians became goal hungry. Then Nash grabbed his second of the game thanks to a good ball by Boud, to make it 7-2. Longville then scored a third to remind the visitors they were still in the game. But a mistake by the keeper allowed Ottaway to score another hat trick, to make the final score 8-3.

LEIGHTON TOWN
The U8 and U9 embarked on a trip to Bournemouth this weekend and left a good impression with their seaside hosts. With a cracking weekend for weather the tournament on Sunday was a complete success. Both teams had opponents and spectators commenting on how they played good football and people began to watch their matches once word spread of the entertaining football on offer.

The U8s only lost one game and the U9s finished a creditable third, but brought home the FA Respect trophy given to the team who displayed the most graciousness in victory and defeat towards the opposition and officials. Both managers would like to thank the boys and parents for representing the club and themselves brilliantly and a return trip will be on in 2010! Thanks to both teams also for a tremendous amount of hard work this season and have a rest as you deserve it.

Deanshanger Colts 5
Leighton Town U10 5
Town started the much livelier of the two teams, having all the early running and taking the game to the home side. Town Goalie Owen Cavender had very little to do as all the action was at the other end the pitch, as Town had numerous shots on the Colts goal with only the final touch letting them down.

Despite solid defending by Kieran Read and Alessandro Frantellizzi and against the run of play they somehow found themselves behind just before the break.

The second half started much the same way with the Reds really pushing hard when Charlie Waters equalised. Colts found Mathew Callow a real handful and he put the Reds into the lead with a suburb goal. Conner Rowson had a great game at the back and Charlie Waters hard work paid off when he got his second goal.

The Colts made a few tactical changes and they ground their way back into the game with a couple of fortuitous goals. Rhys Cullen worked hard in midfield with Anthony Ball who scored to regain the lead. Then the Colts scored two more goals to make for a nervous end to the game, and with the clock ticking Luke Mills pushed forward to get the Reds deserved equaliser. A great all round team performance and they all share the MoM award.

Leighton Town U13 3
Sandy Colts Under 13 0
In a winner takes all game, Leighton Town came out on top securing the 3 points they needed to become League Champions! Leighton played some good football like they have all season, against a good Sandy team who haven't lost all season until today. Goals from Till (2) and Munt (1) sealing the victory for the team in a good, friendly game.  The whole team deserve credit for all their effort and hard work throughout the season. Jeff Forbes, manager would like to thank Martin Johnson, coach, and all the parents for their continued support.

St Joseph's Youth U15 4
Leighton Town U15 0
After four minutes, a long Jordan Potter throw was headed on by Charlie Green, (the first of many deft flicks), and Tom Gordon shot just wide.
Town played attractively, but the long throws of Potter and Liam Edwards were most threatening.

Schemer Alfie Ruston shot narrowly wide, as Danny O'Donnell and valiant injured Tom Coleman fought for midfield parity. Lee Adams and Luke Binding came on to provide abrasive presence in this area.

Matt Fisher made two sharp saves before St Joe's missed a superb chance; soon after Leighton conceded to a far post header.
Gordon's committed tackling put in Green for a thumping shot that was well saved, and rugged defender Callum Boskett threatened with a late header.
Early in the second period Tighe Campbell's superb run and pass put in Jack Sewell, but he was crowded out by resolute defenders.

In truth, Town lived off scraps in the second half while their opponents increasingly enjoyed a feast. Defenders Luke Evans and Dominic Cooper worked furiously with their colleagues, but couldn't prevent a headed second.

Two late concessions, one with an apparent foul on Fisher, were harsh on Leighton, but the standard for title contention had been clearly demonstrated.

Leighton Town U15 0
St Joseph's Youth 2
Town's Tom Gordon came close within two minutes, but Matt Fisher then made a series of fine saves before being badly injured making a brave clearance.

Luke Evans came on and performed splendidly at right back, whilst Gordon went in goal and played well.

Liam Edwards, Jordan Potter, Charlie Green and Alfie Ruston produced some skilful approach play, and both
Edwards and Green threatened with long-range efforts.

The Reds came closest when Ruston's high ball was headed on by Green, and Luke Binding's drive was tipped onto the bar.
Lee Adams unleashed a powerful shot, and Binding again came close after a thunderous Callum Boskett challenge and run set up the opportunity.
St Joseph's rallied strongly after the break, scoring a good goal, and hitting Town's bar.

Town's defensive resolution was evident in Dominic Cooper's steely display, and good midfield tracking back by Ruston and Tom Coleman.
St Joe's got a second, and Coleman filled in well for Boskett, who was thrust up front.
Sub Danny O'Donnell's accurate clearances relieved pressure; Lee Adams donned the gloves and had the joy of saving a late penalty.

Gordon drew a fingertip save as Town fought bravely to the end.

Luton Borough A 1
Leighton Town U15 1
A typical end-of-season match started slowly.

Town's first threat came when a clever Luke Binding free kick put in Jordan Potter, whose rasping shot was pushed for a corner.

Leighton's defenders Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper and Callum Boskett were tested by a physically committed Borough, but came through via an outstanding Boskett clearing header, timely tackles, and some wayward Luton shooting. Stand-in keeper Tom Gordon handled deftly.

Later, Boskett glanced an attacking header wide, and a great combination between hard-running Charlie Green and skilful Danny O'Donnell forced the keeper to save at Binding's feet.

After the break Town started strongly; Liam Edwards drove forward and fed Alfie Ruston, whose neat ball set up Binding's blocked shot.

The Reds then conceded to a long-ball goal, but snapped back when Green's top-corner bound header was tipped over. Sub Matt Fisher produced a good low shot that the keeper barely saved, and a superb Tom Coleman free kick was just pushed away from Boskett.

Resolute midfielder Lee Adams swapped with Gordon in goal, and immediately made a good save with his feet.

Green's incisive ball then set up Boskett's superbly taken equaliser. Town's point was thoroughly deserved.

SOUTHCOTT OWLS
Great Linford Cougars
v Southcott Owls U8
Jake Sanders expertly fired in to open the scoring after a good pass from Ben Turley but the lead was short lived as Cougars soon levelled from a fine cross field passing move.

Craig Rattray coolly saved a penalty and Southcott moved up a gear. Ben Turley ran down the left wing and unleashed a left foot shot forcing a good save from the keeper. Jake Sanders cut through their defence and delivered several good shots ably supported by Tommy Johnston, Jamie Hunt and Craig Rattray.

But Cougars took the lead when they broke from defence catching Southcott out off position firing past the approaching keeper. Out to protect their unbeaten league run, Southcott levelled again as Craig Rattray's determined tackling won the ball and he found Jake Sanders who ran through on goal and blasted it in.

A draw was a fair result as both sides created good chances but the resolute defending of Karl Waydick and Connor James backed up by Captain 'Courageous' Rattray in goal was a pleasure to watch.

WOODSIDE
Brackley Jaffas 4
Woodside Rovers U10 1
A lively start to the game saw Luke Williams hit the post and Brackley respond by hitting the bar. Joe Harley and Mason Coleman linked up well with Owen Claridge on the right but the Brackley defence held firm.

Brackley hit the woodwork again and would have scored from the rebound but for Ben Crallan's clearance off the line. Brackley's pressure finally told when they scored from a corner. Moments later Woodside's woes doubled; keeper Sam Cook stopped a low shot but could only watch as the rebound was tapped in. At the other end Joseph Raymen and Mason linked up well on the left allowing Owen to get a shot on goal but the keeper was well placed.

Early in the second half Luke hit a wicked shot that the Brackley keeper somehow managed to palm over. Woodside pushed forward but were caught by a quick break down the middle. Blake Lewis in defence couldn't get to the ball in time and Brackley got their third. They scored again when Rovers lost the ball deep in their own half. Jay Stephenson came on late in the game and with only a few minutes left Joe Harley scored a consolation goal for Woodside.

Woodside Rovers 2
Willen Juniors Rhinos 3
Willen must have seen Manchester United beat Arsenal earlier in the week as they made a blistering start scoring two goals in the first three minutes. Woodside didn't know what had hit them! Owen Claridge managed to get in a shot on goal but the Willen keeper was well placed. The Rhinos could have scored again but keeper Noah Heath made a great save and Ben Crallan cleared the danger. Up front Mason Coleman and Joe Harley were finding it hard to break down the Willen defence
In the second half Rovers fought their way back into the game. A quick break from defence gave Joseph Raymen the chance to slot a great pass to Luke Williams who fired home.

With Sam Cook screaming encouragement from the back Joseph made another great run down the left. He passed to Owen who crossed and Luke was there for his second. Jay Stephenson came on to try and win the game but it looked as though it was going to be a draw. The final twist came with only seconds remaining, defender Blake Lewis could only watch in dismay as a Woodside goal kick was volleyed straight back into the top corner.

Water Eaton 2
Woodside Rovers U11 0
The run of the ball deserted Woodside with the inform Water Eaton taking advantage of their luck. No goals at half time told the story of Lloyd Milliken, Stuart Matthews, and Michael Davies trying to gain the upper hand in midfield and of Max Coleman dominating with his range of strong running, tackling and crisp passing. Water Eaton fought back, but defenders Alex Batty and Harvey Jones had the measure of the spritely attackers and Morgan Bell stuck to his man marking task. Coner Drosihn, Callum Connew, Kerry O'Conner slotted in well and maintained the equilibrium. Nathan Winters and then Peter Ulyett never got the breaks up front that Woodside deserved.

Four minutes into the second half Water Eaton scored with a lucky rebound after a breakaway from a Woodside corner. Water Eaton then dominated and keeper Mark Roberts showed why he is one of the best keepers in the league with some fine saves including a one on one. The pressure told however and unstoppable shot increased the lead.

O'Conner, Coleman, Matthews and Connew drove forward bravely trying to find a way through but Water Eaton defended well and this exhilarating fixture ended with the Woodside supporters proudly applauding the hard work of their team.

Great Horwood 1
Woodside Rovers U12 5
Woodies were fired up for a must win game and dominated a very scrappy match in which both teams struggled to get the ball under control. Horwood were quick off the mark scoring after two minutes but Woodies were level on five when James Harman took advantage of the chaos in the home defence, caused by Rhys Davies's long throw. After ten they were in front when Keigan Smith drilled in from ten yards. Woodies put distance between the two teams when Davies got himself on the scoresheet on eighteen minutes. Woodies defence, of MoM Fionn Bell, Robert Irons, Luke Boyes, Robbie James and Lewis Pascoe, was untroubled after the Horwood goal. Both keepers, John Shaw and George Fidczuk, had little to do.

After the restart Bell popped up at the back of the six yard area to finish off a corner for his first goal of the season, to make it 4-1. Finally, with ten minutes remaining Oscar Russell was the last Woodside player to touch the ball that ricocheted around before crossing the line to make it 5-1. Dominic Lombino had another impressive game in midfield, whilst Isaac Claridge went box to box. Up front Tom Boozer and Kieren Fosberry worked hard without reward.

Wolverton Tigermoths 1
Woodside Rovers U12 2
Woodside needed an outstanding team performance to win a tense relegation dogfight in dramatic style with a late goal scored two minutes from time to keep alive their hopes of Division 1 football.

The first half was open and it was Wolverton who took the lead against the run of play. Woodies were grateful to first-half-keeper, MoM John Shaw, who pulled off three brilliant saves. Woodies started creating chances with sustained pressure. Keigan Smith and
Dominic Lombino provided crosses from the flanks and eventually Oscar Russell curled a brilliant shot just inside the far post.

Woodies came back out for the second-half fired up and dominated from start to finish. Kieren Fosberry's pace and Charlie Mead's guile created opportunities down the right, whilst Tom Boozer's work rate for his team was excellent. In midfield James Harman and Isaac Claridge worked tirelessly in breaking up attacks and setting Woodies on their way time and again. The back four of Fionn Bell, Robert Irons, Luke Boyes and Robbie James were untroubled and second-half keeper George Fidczuk only had to make one save. Woodies squandered chances and time was running out when Rhys Davies collected a clearance and fired a first time, unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to snatch a dramatic but, well deserved win.

Woodside Rovers U12 3
Woburn Lions 1
A collective team effort saw Woodside almost certainly secure Division 1 football with this powerful display of football and beat local rivals Woburn for the first time in two seasons. Woodies were ahead on nine minutes as Tom Boozer made a nuisance of himself at a corner that Woburn failed to clear and the outstanding Charlie Mead smashed home.

In defence Dominic Lombino playing as a makeshift centre back looked as if he had played there forever. He was supported well by Fionn Bell, Luke Boyes and Robbie James. Keeper John Shaw was always alert to danger. In midfield Isaac Claridge was all over the pitch winning the ball and driving forward, Kieren Fosberry with his electrifying pace and determination troubled the visitor's defence constantly. Nevertheless Woburn equalised before half-time.

After the restart it was Woodies who made all the running and they regained the lead when MoM James Harman was fouled and Rhys Davies converted the penalty. Minutes later Harman made it 3-1 hitting a shot into the top corner. The impressive Davies used his pace and skill to carve out further chances which weren't taken. Oscar Russell filled in well in defence, whilst Keigan Smith's pace made Woburn wary of committing too many men forward.

Woodside Rovers U15 1
West Bletchley 6
Rovers' last game of the season saw them visit title
contenders West Bletchley.

A hot day and playing on a big pitch, Rovers knew it would be a tough game. With players absent, Stiles filled in along side Greany, Arscott-Smith and Simons in defence to withstand some early pressure from Bletchley.

But after 20 minutes, the Bletchley striker was played through and he coolly finished past Cherry. Bletchley scored again with a shot that dipped over Cherry.

The midfield of Jones, Jell, Robertson and Ryan battled hard but 10 minutes later Bletchley scored again with a nicely placed finish. Rovers went into half-time 3-0 down.
Bletchley began the half on the front foot and scored 15 minutes into the second half.

Rovers fought back though when they got their passing game going. Some good inter-change from defence to midfield to attack saw O'Donoghue through on goal and he scored past a bemused Bletchley keeper.
Rovers then changed their tactics and were gaining momentum until Bletchley scored with a break away goal.

With the end of the season in sight, Rovers became more tired and Bletchley grabbed another with five minutes to go. Final Score: 6-1. MoM's: Stiles and Jell.

LEIGHTON UNITED
Leighton United Girls U10 0
Bedford Girls U10 0
A great game was played by two good teams, and United were very happy at holding the undefeated champions to a draw. Bedford applied pressure early on and Savannah Shepherd was called into action.  For the rest of the first half though, it was the home team constantly probing.

Jasmine Page and Lizzie Richardson linked up well and created several chances.

Top scorer Rachel Moffat came very close to adding to her total but was thwarted by keeper and post and Alisa Chapman was also denied by the woodwork.  Following a corner and melee in the Bedford box, Charlie Lambert was unlucky not to score, but shortly afterwards cleared off her own line after Bedford hit the bar.

Bedford were dangerous on the break but the defence marked well and Jade Linders cleared her lines well throughout the game. Charlotte Mulford came on to add to the attacking options and proved a handful in holding the ball up, whilst Page, Richardson and Moffat all had good efforts blocked. Shepherd made a great double save in the second half to keep United in the game and earned player of the match for her efforts. A draw was a fair result and United finished third in the league, following a huge improvement through the course of the season. Well done to the whole squad and well done for always smiling!

Flitwick Eagles Girls U10 1
Leighton United Girls U10 6
A truly awesome performance by a depleted United, missing both regular strikers, saw them overcome a well-organised Flitwick team. Charlotte Mulford played alone up front for the first time, and had two shots well saved in the first couple of minutes, before putting Alisa Chapman in for a 1-0 lead.

At the back, Jade Lindars and Lucie Webster worked well and snuffed out a number of chances for the home team, and Savannah Shepherd in goal was called upon as Flitwick pressed forward. Rachel Moffat had made the keeper make a couple of good saves before picking up the ball and surging forward before crossing for Mulford to score her first of the season at the near post.  Flitwick rarely threatened for the remainder of the half with Moffat hitting post, bar and keeper, Chapman seeing two efforts well saved and Shepherd, now outfield, narrowly missing. A fitting end to the half saw Moffat win a tackle on halfway before dribbling her way through the defence and sliding in a shot to the bottom corner for a 3-0 halftime lead.

United attacked constantly after the break and a great passing move between Shepherd and Mulford saw Mulford net her second. At the other end, Charlie Lambert had taken over in goal despite nursing an injury, and saved a penalty to keep United well in the game.

Moffat's shot count had reached double figures with only one success, but she then danced and swivelled herself into a position to brilliantly chip the keeper for a 5-0 advantage. Moffat and Mulford linked up at the edge of the area and Mulford played Chapman in for a close range shot which took Chapman into double figures for the season.
Flitwick made a late break and scored an excellent
consolation, but the game had been lost some time before.  The win keeps United third in the league with one game left against leaders Bedford. Player of the match was Jade Lindars.

Leighton United U11 A 4
Bushmead Rovers 1
A slow starting game, but a corner from Brett started United's attack, as Harry's header rattled the bar. Bushmead had pace on the break and a quick thinking Charlie Cooper came off his line to frustrate Bushmead. The first half closed with Luke cleverly robbing the defence and striking a shot just over the bar.

The second half started with one United player hungry for goals. Brett striving down the left wing cut in and positioned his shot where no keeper could stop. A battling Jono supplied the next goal which came to an in-form Brett that resulted in his second. Bushmead not beaten tried to outwit the defence, but the united wall of Ollie, Liam and Jake made any attempt futile. The next moment made one players season with Paolo and Charlie Beary starting the attack, and Brett supplying a cross that left defender Neel with his long awaited goal. More pressure from United and a quick thinking Jordan found JC whose skill on the ball left Bushmead stationary. United's last goal was of course from a well deserved MoM Brett, taking on the defence and finishing in the bottom corner. Good season Leighton great teamwork and morale and a big thanks to Don and Tom.

Chesham U14 girls 1
Leighton United U14 girls 2
United travelled to Chesham mid week needing a victory to retain their position on the top of the league. In difficult conditions the girls grinded out all three points.

Chesham proved difficult opponents to break down, but persistent pressure saw McClelland fire home after a combination of good passing from midfield trio of Molloy, MoM Yee and Quinn.

United continued to settle back into the rhythm after a long break but had to show the strength and depth of their squad following a few injuries. This never looked like being a problem for United who soon doubled the lead when Johnson's forward run and inch perfect cross was met by Taylor whose effort left the keeper with no chance.

As the game progressed Chesham pushed forward and Leighton called upon keeper Blacow to keep them in it along with the defence of, Mulvihill, Dolan, Page, Johnson, Butler and Hill. Chesham did pull one back, in a difficult game all the mattered was the girls secured three points.

Leighton United U14 girls 6
Vale Reds U14 girls 0
Vale Reds were all that stood in the way from United winning the league with a game in hand and the girls didn't disappoint their spectators.
Although the girls proved comfortable winners Leighton's solid defence of Hill, Dolan, Mulvihill, Johnson and Butler kept keeper Evans quiet.

Early celebrations took place when McClelland put away her first of three after 10 minutes. The early goal settled the game and the girls began to play some good football and the goals came in quick succession, Taylor put away her second in two games. Blacow returned on pitch and put away two (not bad for a goal keeper!) and United looked sure to be crowned champions.

The game finished six nil but could have been a lot more, with all midfielders going close: skipper Molloy hit the cross, Yee continued to trouble the opposition and the ever hard working Quinn was unlucky not to score. Page stepped up to the mark again and never looked out of place.

In a well deserved victory the season's hard work paid off with the League being the icing on the cake.

Leighton United U 14 girls 1
Berkhamsted U14 girls 0
With the league already in the bag United faced Berkhamsted in the last game of the season. The girls dominated throughout and had many opportunities to finish the game off, McClelland and Yee going close in the first half. Quinn continued to put the opposition under pressure. Evans gave another good performance and another clean sheet, supported by the usual solid defence of Johnson, Dolan, Mulvihill, Butler and Hill. The breakthrough came from the ever consistent Quinn after some good work from skipper Molloy who threaded a pass to Blacow assisted by the versatile Page. The goal spurred some good football and were nearly rewarded with a second when Taylors header went just over. A great result for the newly crowned champions.

Leighton United U15 4
Leighton Town U15 1
Liam Edwards featured early, with a probing pass, and an intelligent lob that was pushed onto the bar.

Good interchanges between Tom Coleman and Tighe Campbell caused worries for United, but Town then conceded an unfortunate own-goal from a corner.

Soon after an Edwards throw was headed on by the aerially dominant Charlie Green, and Alfie Ruston equalised emphatically.
Keeper Matt Fisher's flicked on big kicks were a potent weapon. Luke Binding displayed some superb midfield covering, before a penetrating Callum Boskett free kick nearly generated a United own-goal.
The Reds conceded a preventable goal late on.

Immediately after the restart Edwards produced a great defensive header.

Jordan Potter, who played like a man possessed, saw his throw create mayhem before Tom Gordon's shot was just saved.

Danny O'Donnell displayed composure, and Ruston impressive passing, but the balance was shifting.
Fisher made an outstanding acrobatic save, but was powerless to prevent a close range goal.

Intense United pressure produced more brave saves, and authoritative defending from Dominic Cooper, Potter and Boskett. Remarkably, another own-goal was the only concession.
Luke Evans' impressive thrust forward and important interception, together with an excellent Binding effort, featured as Town rallied late.

Leighton United 4
Stevenage Borough 3
United pulled out a superb performance against Hertfordshire's County Cup winners.

The game started with Boro pressure and a good goal for them from a corner. But Elding was on form from then on with some safe goalkeeping . Slowly United came into the game and a trademark Russo free kick magnificently went in from distance.

With it 1-1 at half time it was the second half when all the excitement happened. United went 2-1 up when a poor Boro clearance landed at Mortimer's feet for him to cleverly shoot at an open goal.
Captain Clegg then had a header cleared off the line. But Boro had a dubious penalty which they put away and then made it 3-2 after a breakaway resulted in a good goal.

But this United team have learnt to never give up and Ash, who was superb in the second half, broke down the right wing to cross for Lewis to skilfully head past the Boro keeper.

Then in the last seconds of the match a Russo clearance was picked up by Ash who rounded the keeper to make it 4-3. Queue celebrations from United and 10 seconds after the retake the final whistle was blown.

EATON BRAY LIONS
EB Lions U9 Reds 3
Brache Sparta 1
Playing with the only six players who were available this week against seven, the Lions were always going to work hard to get a result, and that's just what they did. The Lions took control of the game from the start with only some good saves from the Brache keeper stopping the Lions from scoring, then after 14 minutes Dax Roe showed some good individual skills to put the Lions one up. Keeping the pressure on, it was only another five minutes and the Lions went two up from a forced error resulting in an own goal. In goal Toby Higgs had very little to do because of the work put in by defenders Ryan Luff and Jack Nevitt who were solid in defence.

As the second half started the Lions were outnumbered at the back and Brache scored. The rest of the second half was really tough for the Lions on a big pitch plus a man down. In midfield George Oliver, Jack Quigley and Roe had to cover lots of ground and in the last minute their hard work paid off with a goal in the last minute by Quigley to give the Lions a well deserved 3-1 win. Team: Roe, Quigley, Oliver, Nevitt, Higgs, Luff.

EB Lions U9 Reds 5
Luton Borough Dragons 3
In what will be the last game for this team as they are unfortunately breaking up at the end of the season the Lions finished in style. After a slow start the Lions went 1 ahead after seven minutes with a goal from Oliver and then 5 minutes later after a well taken corner from Roe, Oliver got his second. With the Lions controlling midfield through Nevitt and Luff it was only a matter of time before the Lions got their third with a great finish from Roe. Then on the stroke of half time LBD scored on the break and it was 3-1.

The Lions scored in the first minute of the second half after a good run by Quigley but a minute later LBD scored and it was 4-2. Two minutes from full time LBD made it 4-3 then a minute later Oliver got his third and the match ended 5-3 to the Lions. The Lions finished the season in 3rd place in Division 1 and were only three points off the top team. Congratulations and well done to all the boys, you did us proud.

Thank you, Manager/Coach Kev Roe and all the parents and supporters.
Team: Roe, Quigley, Oliver, Nevitt, Higgs, Luff, Christie.

EB Lions U13 Girls 3
Cranfield Colts 0
In the Lions final match of the season the team were determined to win and finish the season Division 1 runners up. They did and they did it in style. Although the first half was tight the Lions had the majority of the possession and always threatened to score. By controlling midfield Ashby, Ferguson and Hudson ensured that the Lions kept Cranfield in their own half and when the Lions needed to defend Thiel and Scott dealt with anything they had to. The first half ended 0-0.
As soon as the second started the Lions scored in the first minute when Viljoen tapped home a deflected shot. With the Lions keeping the pressure on it was only another six minutes before French scored and the Lions were two up. Substitutes Byrne and Kirkwood came on and helped keep the pressure on.
Meanwhile, Oliver in goal made a great save from a hard shot at short range and again the Lions kept a clean sheet. With 12 minutes left French got her second and the Lions were on their way.
Congratulations and well done to all of you from Manager/Coach Kev Roe, coaches Tabitha, Sharon, Michelle and all parents and supporters.
Team: Oliver, Thiel, Scott, Ashby, French, Viljoen, Hudson, Byrne, Ferguson, Kirkwood.

HEATH PANTHERS
AFC Kempston Colts Sapphires 1
Heath Panthers U11 Kittens 3
Kempston took on Heath for the last game of the season with revenge in mind. Heath put a stop to that from the beginning with Lily Norton scoring to open the game and Charlie Kaye making the runs and scored before half time.

Kelsey Atkinson making some lovely corners only just to miss the goal in the first half. Danielle Kaye and Brooke Lewis worked hard at the back throughout the game. Chloe Pinder and Samantha Davis both worked hard up and down the line.
In the second half Charlie Kaye did it again by putting another goal in the net to make it 3-1.

Toni Kaye made some wonderful saves and kept the score low once again.
Heath would like to thank Kempston for the best game of the season and you still kept on battling. Well done.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the Kittens. You all played outstandingly for your first season and we finished 4th in our league – well done. POM Kelsey Atkinson.

Bletchley Shamrocks 0
Heath Panthers U12 6
Panthers won the Shield final at the MK Dons Stadium scoring six without reply, Panthers dominated the game from start to finish with all 11 players playing their part.

Jack Gammage put Panthers on their way when he headed in following a flick on. Gammage added the second with a deflection off a defender.
Panthers poured forward looking for more goals and Owen Garland in the Panthers goal had to make a couple of saves to keep Panthers' lead intact.

Panthers added their third when the ball was half cleared, Ross Tearle drove the ball into the back of the net 5 yards outside the penalty box.

Panthers continued to press forward, the back two of Nathan Hawkins and Luke Robinson snuffed out any attacks from Bletchley Shamrocks.
Captain James Bonser drove in the fourth from an acute angle to put Panthers 4-0 up before half time.

Panthers added two more in the second half when they finally got the ball wide on the right for Oliver Hagger to finish sweetly with his left foot.. Well done boys.

WING RAIDERS
Newton Longville U11 2
Wing Raiders 1
A valiant effort against the Division Champions. Wiggins was outstanding in goal, making several brilliant saves to thwart Newton Longville. Chapman (capt), Heasman and McCabe held fast in defence.
In midfield W Jones, McSweeney and MoM Allen set up several chances. First Barrett struck on the turn, then Allen hit a thunderous long range shot, both denied by the keeper. Half time 0-0.

Shortly into the second half, Wing hesitated as play was rightly waved on after a crunching tackle. Longville reacted quickly – 1-0.
Wing almost struck back immediately when a pinpoint corner from W Jones found McSweeney but he headed just over.

Chapman halted a Longville attack, passed to W Jones who combined with Giltrow and Heasman to release Barrett. His cross found Goode who rifled home. 1-1.

Newton Longville broke quickly and scored a terrific goal. 2-1.
A McSweeney long throw set Goode on a powerful run which forced a corner. W Jones found Allen who was unlucky to see his shot saved. Chapman was then denied from the second corner.

Wing sent everyone up for a last-minute corner, looking for the equaliser they deserved, but Barrett's strike went just wide. Full time 2-1. MoM was Allen for huge all-round performance.

SOUTHCOTT OWLS
Southcott Owls U13  4
Watling Youth U14 1
Owls lined up for the plate U14 semi-final. With 15 minutes gone, Bell's free kick found Brown, who volleyed into the top corner.
A neat pass from Foulger found Howard who blasted a shot across the keeper and into the net.

A lot of hard work in midfield from Murray, Foulger and Messum kept the Watling team under pressure.

The only time the Dunstable team came forward Tift with great positioning and Quinn with brilliant determination, kept the wingers at bay. Brown and Waterhouse worked well up front and it was Waterhouse who pounced on a defensive error to shoot across the keeper for 3-0.
Moffat, Hearn and Gillings freshened up the midfield and Thomas bolstered the defence.

Watling scored a consolation goal to make it 3-1, but goalkeeper, Hartfield deserved the clean sheet with a solid display and with the ever present Bell and Captain Clegg at set pieces, it felt there would be more goals.

But Waterhouse with a clever chip over the keeper was the man to round off the rout and secure a plate final meeting with Square Rangers U14s next week.

LINSLADE GREENLEAS
Southcott Owls 3
Linslade Greenleas Athletico U9 5
The final round of league matches saw two local rivals meeting for the first time this season.

With Athletico never having come out on top in this fixture and an unbeaten league record to defend, there was plenty to play for.
Athletico set their marker out with an early goal, following strong passing from Culley on the left wing and Dimeo in midfield, allowing Kharawala to put Athletico in front.

With only a few minutes gone this was then further added to by Culley, combining well with Williams on the opposite wing. But Southcott weren't about to roll over. They seized the initiative for the second quarter and took a well struck goal to leave it at 2-1 at half-time.
Athletico pushed forward immediately at the kick-off and their rejuvenated passing game resulted in a second for Culley.

Dillamore's Furnishings MoM Liggett belied his size to head home Athletico's fourth past the Southcott keeper and grabbed his second from a goalmouth scramble soon after.

But as happens, Athletico thought their job was done. Southcott fought hard and quickly pulled back a second to give them hope and continued to pile on the pressure, despite the much improved second-half efforts of Potter and Cantwell in defence, and the hard working Dimeo. Despite some strong keeping from Axford, confusion in the defence allowed the hosts a third at the death.

A great way to end the season with a good spirited game from both sides and for Athletico a great step forward over the past nine months – well done all!

If you would like to play for Linslade Greenleas, the U9s and U10s in particular are looking for more players – more information can be found at: www.lg-fc.org

Greenleas Year 2 team at Pulfords festival
Six year 2 teams played at the Pulfords festival of football on a glorious morning. Greenleas' first game was against Southcott and goals from Charlie Waple Moors and Ryan Smith were enough for an early victory.

The second game was against Dovery Down and was an even contest with Waple Moors on the score sheet but the game ended in a draw. The third game against Aspley Guise saw two more goals from Smith and an excellent solo run and goal from Dan Hodey as Greenleas ran out comfortable winners.

After a team withdrew, Southcott offered to play Greenleas again but this time it was the Owls who ran out comfortable winners. In the final game against Heathwood the boys got back to winning ways as Owen Merrington scored two goals and Waple Moors and Smith one each.

The team played some great football again and special mention must be made to Emily Heale, James Mallord, Oscar Barnes and Kieran Carvell who all excelled themselves against tough opposition.

The festival was a great success and our thanks go to the organisers at Pulfords for putting on such a well managed event.
