Woodside Wanderers could have won by more than 8!
LEIGHTON TOWN
Leighton T U7 4 Southcott U7 6
A CRACKING game between two good U7 teams saw ten excellent goals which were a credit to both teams.

In a very even game, Southcott took an early lead, but Ben soon levelled with an excellent run and finish.

Luca and Maxi were always threatening and Daniel was throwing himself wholeheartedly into every tackle. At the back, Lauren and Max kept Southcott's strikers at bay. Southcott were not to be underestimated though and it took a fine save from Patrick in goal to keep it at 1-1.

Just before half-time, Daniel made a fantastic left-footed pass down the line to Luca, who scored with a terrific shot.

As the second half started, Southcott scored immediately and then followed it up with two more. At 4-2 down Leighton could have wilted but they came back brilliantly, with goals from Maxi and then Luca who got his second. Lauren and Max kept tackling and Daniel and Ben worked hard in midfield.

In the last quarter Patrick made two great saves but couldn't prevent Southcott scoring. As Town pushed for an equaliser, Southcott broke away to finish the scoring. MoM Ben.

Leighton Town U9 2
Bedford Panthers A 1
IN a reverse fixture from last week Town overcame their stubborn rivals and claimed three more precious points in the process.
In the first half Town started well with Jack and George linking well with Nathan and David to cause Panthers problems.

A stout performance by Alex and Bradlee at the back held Panthers out. A beautful corner from Jack caused mayhem in the box and when the ball fell to George he rifled home from the edge of the box to give Town the lead. Nathan then went close and Town were on top but lack of concentration cost them as Panthers sneaked an equaliser. George then had a long range shot saved by the keeper and the half ended.

In the second half Town came out all guns blazing and were passing well. Leyton came on gave some width. A shot heading for the top corner from Jack was fantastically saved by the keeper and Town pushed on. The move of the game came when Leyton and Nathan exchanged passes and Leyton moved the ball to the right side to George who took the ball on before unleashing a shot which the keeper saved but Leyton had followed his pass into the box and buried the rebound. Luke came on and sured up the back intercepting well when attacks broke. David almost made it three and Town were forging on. Callum came on and made some great tackles enhancing his reputation and with Isaac's handling and kicking fantastic in goal, Town held out for a good win. MoM George.

Leighton T U12 Spartans 2
Luton Utd 2
THE match kicked off with Jordan Koch leading the attack narrowly missing an early goal. Callum Waldock looped an inch-perfect ball to Luke Whitby, whose shot was saved, and set up a goalmouth scramble which resulted in a corner headed home by Billy Patterson putting Town in an early lead.

Luton reacted well and had numerous shots all dealt with in a spectacular fashion by keeper Jordan Bassett. Despite staunch defending by George Franklin, Stevie Cox, Jordan Sutton and Tyler Farrugia they were unable to stop a powerful strike from Luton.

A well picked out pass enabled Luke Whitby to split the defence and go one on one with the keeper, the result 2-1. The team pressed on with Joe Boniface and Gianni Cardinale passing the ball with purpose.

Luton continued to attack but were thwarted by Darren Sanderson, Joshua Wavish and Ollie Vine in particular, who all made several last ditch interventions. Even after five minutes of added time had been played it looked as though Spartans had seen them out but the game went on and on. But when Luton were awarded a corner 20 seconds from the end, they seized the moment and scored an equalising goal.

Leighton T Girls U12 3 Sandy 1
A VERY even game between two teams enjoying glorious football conditions.

The midfield of Kiera Lewis, Jodie Turney and Sian Kennett worked extremely hard to try and gain dominance over their determined opponents.

The main catalyst behind most of Town's best moves was Chanice Ellis who was at her waspish best keeping Sandy pegged back. Charlotte Carpenter was solid as a rock in defence with Becky Langthorne imperious as her talented defensive partner.

Alicia Franklin was very competent in goal but half time arrived without a breakthrough for either team.

The second half saw Sandy take the lead with a swift attack and Leighton were on the back foot as they were driven back. The introduction of Rae Glennon added some stability to the midfield and provided some aerial protection to the defence.

Milly Mander rampaged up front and was eventually rewarded with three fine goals that secured the points for the hosts.

LEIGHTON UNITED
Shillington U9 2 Leighton Utd U9 2
A TERRIFIC performance by United against tough opposition saw them take the lead and nearly snatch victory at the close.

United defended well in the first half with Philip Clark tackling and clearing well.  Rachel Moffat tested the keeper with a long shot which brought out an excellent save and a corner.  Mitch put over the corner and it was bundled in by Miley for the lead.

United almost got to half time without conceding, but were caught on the break and went in at 1-1.

Shillington attacked with purpose early in the second half and scrambled a second goal.  United were under a lot of pressure but Mark Selby worked hard in midfield to tackle back and relieve the problems with forward runs. Daniel in goal made a number of important saves to keep United in touching distance.

James Brett had got involved all over the pitch and was rewarded when he broke away and fired an unstoppable left foot shot into the roof of the net.

The game was very exciting throughout and James Green was denied at the end by another brilliant save from the Shillington keeper. Player of the match was Philip Clark.

Leighton United U10B 4
Lea Sport PSG 0
UNITED soon took control of the game. Jamie Leighton crossed the ball to Nathan Ashburner who headed the ball in the top right corner for United's first. Jonah Gutteridge battled in midfield keeping possession and delivering excellent passes to Leighton who was ready and waiting.

A cross into the box found Ashburner who steered it into the bottom corner for United's second. Theo Cox and Alex Aldous-Ball were superb in defence tackling hard and winning possession. Keeper Brett Smith handled the few shots that came his way.

United were given another free kick taken by Jay Denniston who placed it into the box then finished off by Ashburner with another header into the top left hand corner for his hat trick. Louie Clowes out on the left wing and Owen Reay up front both battled hard creating chances for United. Denniston took another free kick which the keeper cleared but Gutteridge quickly followed up and netted United's fourth goal.

Defenders Cox and Aldous-Ball ensured keeper Smith had a quiet morning and kept another clean sheet giving United a 4-0 victory. MoM Nathan Ashburner.

Eaton Bray Lions Girls U10 3
Leighton United Girls U10 2
ANOTHER closely fought game between local rivals saw the home team take a very early lead with a long shot returned from a poor clearance.

Charlie Lambert put Jasmine Page through for a close range equaliser, only for Bray to retake the lead by capitalising on indecision in United's defence.

United put together some good attacks and Rachel Moffat tested the home keeper on several occasions. Alisa Chapman worked hard in midfield and won a corner, from which Lizzie Richardson poked home another equaliser.

Charlotte Mulford made a brave save as Bray poured forward and had to be replaced in goal by Moffat following an injury sustained in the collision.

United's best attacks then came through a route one style from goal kicks with Page and Richardson both going close. United's defence was more resolute in the second half with Lucie Webster and Jade Linders tackling well.

They could do little about the third goal with a tap-in resulting from a well worked move down the left to give Bray a 3-2 lead midway through the half.

United swapped keepers again, with Moffat playing outfield in search of goals. Savannah Shepherd was in the thick of United's efforts but they couldn't find a way through, Chapman going closest. At the other end, Lambert had donned the gloves and played an outstanding match in goal for the first time dealing with everything thrown at her. The home team ran out deserved winners. PoM Charlie Lambert.

Leighton United U10 2
Bedford Panthers 1
THIS game turned out to be a perfect example of youth football.
Both sides were evenly matched and some great runs by Aaron Dann, Owen Read and Gino Franciamore provided Reece Padmore with a number of chances that were kept out by Bedford's keeper making the score sheet blank at half time. However after two or three strikes at the side netting, Leighton's striker Connor Coulson finally broke the deadlock with a cracking goal.

Leighton were on top form despite a number of misses at goal and one or two close calls as the ball rebounded off the woodwork. Marc Childs, Nathan McCarthy, Oliver Chambers, Owen Read and Adam Farmer-Patel provided the spectators with a fine performance midfield and in defence and as Bedford laid on the pressure goalkeeper Aiden Matthews saved a succession of strikes before ultimately one went in making the scoreline level with just minutes to go. Just when you thought it was all over a lovely one two provided Reece with the winning goal making the final score 2-1 to Leighton. MoM went to Owen Read.

Luton Leagrave 5
Leighton United U10D 1
UNITED started their usual way by coming out slow and after ten minutes were 2-0 down.

Nicholas Tompkins playing on pitch instead of in goal was very impressive and worked well earning PoM. In goal and having yet another fine performance was Sam Olson.

Louis Lenander and Torrem Ozturk held firm at the back, with Jay Parish, Oliver Brown and Robert Smith all playing to their strengths in midfield, trying to support Nicholas up front.

Zoe Molloy, Joel Parish and Grant Brandom all came on, and on the stroke of half time were awarded a penalty which Grant smashed into the net. It was 4-1 at the break and United battled even harder in the second half and managed to only concede one more.

Leighton United U11 Girls 1
Sacred Heart U11 Girls 1
UNITED battled well throughout this game but found it hard to break down their opposition.

They were a goal down from a quality strike at half time, but battled well and a shot from Zoe was deflected in for an own goal.

Team: Charlie Hedges, Sarah Miller, Georgia Carey, Maive Kenny, Niamh Ryan, Sammy Lay-Flurrie, Abigail Luby, Tayla Dolan and Zoe Molloy.

Bedford Town Youth 4
Leighton United U11 2
THE biggest challenge of the season awaited Leighton. United started strong and the first goal came early as JC slotted a pass to Brett Rawson who directed the ball low past the keeper.

This seemed to spur life into Bedford, and soon the scores were level after a punishing corner was headed home. Half time was fast approaching and Jono came closest, but Bedford's keeper managed to save the shot. The second half saw United working hard as Neel Slatter, Harry Lander and MoM Jordan Davis broke down Bedford's midfield, an early pass saw Brett use his pace to outwit the defence and chip the ball past the keeper. It was all United then as Luke Janes broke down the defence creating several chances. Charlie Beary working hard on right mid also kept Bedford out of the game.

United's defence them came under attack Jake Shaw, Paolo Bagatti and Ollie Hibbert all doing well, but a cruel decision resulted after Liam McGuire made a superb tackle in the area, but amazingly a penalty was awarded. Charlie Cooper was unfortunate not to save. United then seemed deflated and Bedford took advantage and struck with two goals to seal the win.

Leighton United U14 Girls 1
Crawley Green U14 Girls 2
UNITED faced tough opposition in Crawley Green in the first round of the county cup and started with two new additions. Both Rachel Evans and Chelcie Page didn't look out of place and strengthened the side.

For the opening 30 minutes Leighton looked the stronger side, skipper Molloy found a new partner in Blacow who came out of goal to hold the midfield. Keeper Evans was supported by the ever solid defence of Johnson, Mulvihill, Dolan and Bulter and frustrated their opponents.

The girls played some outstanding football and were unlucky not to score in the first half, Yee and Quinn pressed forward linking up well with top score McClelland whose job was made harder with continuous fouls against her.

Against the run of play United conceded just before half time and early in the second and left United with a lot to do.

Hill came on and made an impression on her opponents. United continued to outplay their opposition and were rewarded with a goal in spectacular fashion from Blacow.

The score ended 2-1 in favour of Crawley Green however this was a great advert for girls and women's football.

Leighton United U16B 4
Caldecote 0
United took on first place Caldecote in this top of the table clash.
Holden, Dyer, MoM Lynch and Nichols were superb holding the line well. Unsung hero King once again did an excellent job playing in a variety of roles.

Corbett battled well and was unlucky not to score when his header was saved.

The first goal came after Lafferty rounded two players and fired the ball into the box. Goodyear slotted the ball past the keeper.
United extended their lead when Minney tore down the wing and fired in a cross, Roberts pounced on the loose ball burying home from close range.

Perrin took over from Corbett in the holding role and moved forward well with the ball at his feet.
After a neat drag down Mulvihill fired in a cross, which Roberts headed home.

The final goal came after Minney's shot was saved by the keeper only to find Mulville free in the box for a tap in with his second touch of the ball. Goalie Webb played his first full game of the season pulling off a fine save in the second half to deny the visitors.

WOODSIDE
Woodside Rovers U8 v
Southcott Owls
BEING a late morning kick off Woodside should have been awake! Two goals from one-man goal machine Jake Saunders soon woke them up.

If Max Jones wasn't well known to Southcott as one of their schoolmates, he would be now. As he, and the equally impressive Sam Beaumont, worked extra hard in midfield to mark the opposition's main threat.

Having stemmed the flow, it was rampant Ryan Connew on the left and the relentless Ross Daggett on the right that turned the tide with two close range efforts.

MoM Theo Davison wove through the tackles to have three shots on goal. And strikers Bradley Harding-Farrington and Rowland Guwa both had good chances too. Even defender, and captain, Seb Wawrzyniak weighed in with several long-range strikes. But they were all to find the visiting keeper in truly inspired form.

At the other end, Woodside's goalie William Shaw remained alert to Southcott's dangerous counter-attacking style. However, the match ended like it started when Woodside were caught napping again and Southcott scored. Game over.

Woodside Wanderers U10 4
Deanshanger Colts 2
AFTER suffering their biggest defeat of the campaign so far against Deanshanger earlier in the season the boys from Woodside dug deep and put in a gritty team performance to come away with the win after this thoroughly enjoyable encounter.

The early stages of the match were very even and chances were created at both ends but neither team managed to take advantage, as half time was approaching fortune favoured Woodside as a cross from Jamie somehow slipped through the keeper's legs and into the back of the net. Deanshanger hit back almost immediately to level the scores.

As the second half progressed Woodside started to dominate in every area of the pitch and after some excellent play scored a further three goals through Luke, Jamie (second) and Jack. Woodside had plenty of chances to increase the lead but failed to find the back of the net.

Deanshanger broke down a Woodside attack and countered quickly to pull one back. For the last ten minutes Deanshanger pressed hard but Woodside held on to their lead and were elated at the final whistle to come away with all three points.

Team: Nat Goodlad, Tom Herbert, MoM Dan Davison, Jack Viera, Luke Orlando, Jamie Leighton, James Wright, James Heggarty, Ross Janes.

United MK 0
Woodside Wanderers U10 1
THIS third round cup match was enjoyed by both sets of fans and played in the true spirit of the cup competition. United MK defended in numbers from the kick off and this prevented Wanderers from playing their normal free flowing attacking football.

Woodside enjoyed a lion's share of the possession throughout the match and kept the home team pegged in their own half for long periods. However they could not find a way through and clear chances on goal were kept to a minimum for both sides. The home team's tactics worked very well and as full time approached it was inevitable that a goaless draw was the only realistic scoreline leaving the prospect of extra time followed by penalties.

Woodside started very brightly in extra time and started to open up the Utd MK defence. Midway through the first period a goalmouth scramble was followed up by Dan who managed to find the back of the net much to the delight of his team mates. Woodside now had to sit on their lead for the remainder of the match and Utd MK had to attack in numbers to try and get back into the match. Woodside found themselves under increased pressure but managed to hang on to the lead until the final whistle and now progress into the quarter finals of the cup.

Team: Nat Goodlad, Tom Herbert, James Wright, Dan Davison, Luke Orlando (MOM), Jack Viera, Jamie Leighton, James Heggarty, Ross Janes.

Woburn Lions Whirlwinds 5
Woodside Rovers U10 1
WOODSIDE had lost to Woburn in the league a week earlier and so were hoping to have better luck against them in the cup. Rovers played brilliantly in the first half, beating Woburn to the ball, making strong challenges and passing well. It was hard to believe that this was the same side from the previous week. Both defences were holding up well and the attackers had to make do with some long range efforts but towards the end of the half Woodside finally broke the deadlock with some slick passing that resulted in Joe Harley scoring a great goal. Woodside were ahead and only 30 minutes of football stood between them and a place in the quarter finals.

The least said about the second half the better!
Team – Mason Coleman, Owen Clardige, Ben Crallan, Joe Harley, Noah Heath, Blake Lewis, Joseph Raymen, Jay Stephenson, Luke Williams.

Moretonville Hurricanes 1
Woodside Wanderers U13 8
A depleted Woodside squad put in a fine performance and could have won by more if not for superb work by the Moretonville goalkeeper.

Goals from Jake Tubb put Wanderers 2-0 up early in the game following skilful attacks, with Callum Read creating openings from the left wing. With the defence in good form, injury to Ben Mayles saw Alex Barnes playing his first game on pitch and despite carrying an injury himself he put in a great performance.

The defence looked in commanding form throughout the game with Ben Roff and Harry Cootes always coping well with any attacks, ably supported by the skilful Hugh Britt. In goal, Matthew Fisk played one of his best games, kicking and throwing well to create counter attacks for Woodside.

Starting the second half 4-0 up, Woodside added to the scoring with Andre Clarke setting up chances for the forwards with Samuel Tompkins completing his hat trick, including a header from a corner. Sam Walker weighed in with two goals, one of which was a superbly taken penalty.

Josh O'Dell, having gone close to scoring on a number of occasions, completed the scoring with a quality volley from close range to seal the victory.

Olney Town Colts 1
Woodside Rovers U12 2
WOODSIDE'S work rate and team spirit overcame determined resistance from Olney and ensured no giant killing took place in this end to end cup quarter-final. Woodies had to come from behind as Olney took the lead after ten minutes as Woodies struggled to get a foothold.

Woodies were indebted to MoM Isaac Claridge who tackled, intercepted and read the game brilliantly. In midfield Oscar Russell put in an impressive display on the left and linked well with Keigan Smith who had another awesome game, terrorising the Olney right back.

It stayed 1-0 until midway through the second-half. Woodies had dominated and created chances but, it was Lewis Pascoe advancing from defence who fired home a long range effort and followed up with a double back flip celebration!

Woodies continued to carve out chances with the hard working Tom Boozer going close on a couple of occasions. Extra-time arrived and eventually Woodies dominance was made to count as Smith scored from close range.

There was still time for keeper George Fidczuk to pull off a smart two handed save before the final whistle. All the Woodies team gave 110 per cent and thoroughly deserve to be in the semi-finals.

Wooside Rovers U15 3
New City Saints U15 1
ROVERS turned their attention to the cup against Division 3 side New City Saints for a place in the quarter finals.

Rovers started well and took control of the game early on with some good interchange between the midfield of McGarvey, Stiles, Jell and Jones, creating some early opportunities for O'Donoghue and Robertson up front. Rovers inevitably took the lead after a shot from Jones was misjudged by the Saints keeper and the ball bounced over his head. Jones then got his second after a well timed header.

Rovers looked comfortable and went into half time with the score at 2-0. Rovers took off from where they had ended with Jell and Stiles running the midfield.

The Saints threat was still there though and they scored when the attacker calmly slid the ball under keeper Cherry.

But still Rovers battled on and had a number of chances to put the game out of Saints reach. Finally one of these chances was converted 10 minutes from time. A long kick from Cherry was flicked on well by Stiles and again by O'Donoghue to MoM Ryan who smashed the ball into the net. Final Score 3-1.

Woodside Wanderers U15 7 Hanslope Hornets 3
A GOOD solid team performance with Woodside dominating the opening stages of the match. Pat Bell had a fine afternoon with his pace and vision causing problems. Scoring twice in the first half he capped his performance with an excellent individual goal in the second half for his first hat trick for the team. Mark Mitchell as ever caused the opposition defence problems and matched Bell's opening two goals with a pair of his own, plus completing his hat trick in the second half.

Wanderers stepped off the throttle and allowed the opposition back in, before winger Eddie Jackson drilled the ball to the far post giving Woodside a lead of 5-2 at half time. Defensively Woodside played the best they have for some weeks. MoM Shane Tiffen dominated the right side, ably supported in the middle by Luke's Rhodes and Taylor. Left Back Tom Holloway pressed forward with good link up play.

Keeper Robin Corston made several brave saves at the feet of Hanslope's forwards. Midfield players Mitchell O'Connor, Michael Flanery, Matthew Forbes & Dan Blythe also all made good contributions today.

LEIGHTON
CORINTHIANS
Moretonville Jr Rovers v Leighton Corinthians U8s
CORINTHIANS started well by keeping Moretonville in their half for most of period and Ellis Capp scored the first goal with a good strike.
The second and third period was tight with both having few chances on goal. When Moretonville did managed to have shots on goal, they either hit the post, or were saved superbly by George King.

In the fourth period Moretonville scored an equaliser, but after a couple of changes, Corinthians pushed Moretonville back. Jack Dean and Oliver Gronert scored two late goals to secure a win.

It was a good team effort from everyone in the team and George King was awarded Player of the Day for superb efforts in goal.

Leighton Corinthians Tigers U14 0 Wolverton Tigermoths 1
CORINTHIANS narrowly lost out to Wolverton in an evenly contested match that saw defences in charge for both teams.

Chances were at a premium in the first half with most efforts on goal restricted to speculative long range shots. Tigers, with a settled defence of Conor Goodger, Chris Lawford, Thomas Knight and Justin Tyas, soaked up early Wolverton pressure before gaining a foothold in the game. Richard Batten and Jack Ellens worked hard down the flanks looking to create opportunities, but the Wolverton defence was also standing up well. Just before half time, though, a lapse in concentration by Tigers let Wolverton in and despite a valiant attempt by keeper, Jordan Lapworth the ball ended up in the back of Tigers' net.

Tigers' midfield of Billy Pantling, Adrian Nicholson, Macauley Conway and Felix Long battled hard against their Wolverton counterparts and there were a couple of chances for Matthew Ferguson to level the score. Wolverton also went close, one shot deflected onto the bar and a header just wide but otherwise the excellent Lawford and MoM Knight stood firm.
Tigers persevered and almost snatched parity with a last minute Tyas header that just flew over but the equaliser was to prove elusive.

EATON BRAY LIONS
EB Lions U8 Blues v
Bushmead Rovers U8
LIONS were rightly confident ahead of Saturday's clash with arch-nemeses Bushmead Rovers, having turned in solid performances since their last meet. Having previously endured a drubbing at the hands of the tricky side, a drastically improved performance was called for.

Front men Myles Frederick and Toby McGee swooped in at every opening and threatened the keeper repeatedly. Defenders Sam Bramston, Joe Thorne and James Glover ensured an even slice of possession was retained throughout, effectively countering the blistering strikes launched by Bushmead forwards.

Nonetheless a sublime goal went in ahead of the break and Lions had some work to do in the second half. Covering midfield and other positions besides, Ollie West, Sam Carter and Joe Rabey were effective in neutralising a string of pacey attacks, and the Rovers were made to fight for every scoring opportunity.

Storming play by the Blues and a sparky attitude culminated in a much improved scoreline compounded by deserving MoM Cameron Burchell, whose diving saves far outshone the Bushmead goals.

EB Lions U9 Reds 3
AFC Dunstable 0
WITH only seven players available the Lions knew that they were going to have to work really hard to get a result, and what a result. From the first kick to the last the Lions were always in control of this match. After 8 minutes Findlay Christie scored the opening goal after some great play between George Oliver and Dax Roe. The Lions had many more chances before half time and only some good saves and the woodwork kept the score at 1-0. When Dunstable did get towards the Lions end goalie Toby Higgs looked confident and dealt with anything that came his way.

The second half started with Jack Nevitt and Oliver controlling midfield as they had done in the first half and it was only a matter of time before the Lions scored again and with some good passing from Nevitt and Roe it was Christie who finished the move off with a well taken goal. It was only five minutes later with a move starting from defence by Ryan Luff with a strong run forward that allowed Christie to complete a well deserved hat trick. Defender Tom Barbato had little to do playing the sweeper role and coped with the few chances that Dunstable created.

This was a great result for the Lions and now they can look forward to the League Cup Final next week.

AFC Luton 6 EB Lions U11 0
LIONS encountered a regimented and well disciplined Luton side in their away fixture on Sunday, whose combined arsenal of controlled passing, accurate shooting and energetic pace proved overpowering in a nevertheless entertaining match.

Centre backs James Pratt and MoM Aarin Johnson adapted well to deny the home side on more than one occasion and, assisted by Tom Horner, Adam Bradley and Chris McGee, established a tidy defensive unit. Even so keeper Dan Kennell was worked hard from the start, shutting out an enfilade of shots which could easily have doubled Luton's goal tally.

Emerging from the half time break 4-0 down Lions found revitalised momentum, midfielders Ben Roberts, Dominic Ryan and Sean Woodhouse effecting a series of goal opportunities, while right winger Charlie Nevitt completed a seemingly endless run past the Luton defenders, finishing with a slicing cross in front of goal for one of the plays of the match. Mason Ashby was tireless on the opposite wing, badgering the home side continuously to deliver the ball to rotating forwards Alex Poynter, Will Juster, Will Petherbridge and Aaron Gauntlett.

Nonetheless Luton managed to net twice more taking their final score to an impressive six goals.

EB Lions U13 Girls 1 Sandy Colts 2
WITH a goal after six minutes from a corner by Darcy Ashby and scored by Hattie French and with the Lions in control of the match it looked like the they were going to have a great day, but five minutes later Sandy got the equaliser and the game was on. Despite having many chances to score it was Sandy that with a minute left to half time who scored.

Although again in the second half it was the Lions who looked most likely to score they couldn't find the back of the net and the Lions ended up going home empty handed even though they were the stronger team, had the Lions put their chances away they would have got the result that they so deserved. Eden Scott was awarded GoM for a really strong display in defence.

Team: Oliver, Thiel, Scott, Ashby, Ferguson, French, Viljoen, Kirkwood, Woolsey, Byrne.

SOUTHCOTT OWLS
Woodside U8 v
Southcott Owls U8
THE Owls asserted their authority with a second convincing win this season over local rivals Woodside. From the outset The Owls' play was fast and attacking and although Woodside retaliated on occasions by slipping past the ever improving defence of Karl Waydick and Connor James they could not beat the safe hands of Craig Rattray and Ben Turley whose partnership alternating in goal is increasingly daunting.

The Southcott defence is complimented by the agility of midfielders Tommy Johnston, Miles Drabwell and Lauren Avery, the tenacity of striker Jamie Hunt and the sheer speed of Jake Sanders. Working collectively they make space and opportunities and so by half time both Hunt and Sanders had scored and The Owls were looking unstoppable.

Nevertheless, the third quarter some saw aggressive play from both sides although disappointingly neither could secure a goal.
This left Woodside with everything to prove in the closing session. However, they could not halt the Southcott attack and conceded a free kick to Sanders whose flying shot clipped the bar, fell back into play and Turley, lying in wait, tapped it in.

Another victory for Southcott over Woodside, and even sweeter than the last.

Southcott Owls U13 2
Celtic Youth U14 4
CELTIC started the stronger and more determined, going 0-2 up even though the defence of Tift, Brown, Clegg and MoM Bell repelled most of the attacks. Goalie Hartfield, pulled off an excellent one handed save.

Bell had a great determined run from defence, setting up one of the few chances. Celtic managed another goal before half time making it 0-3. Changes were made at half time and the game was turned on its head. Some excellent determined tackling from all quarters bought chance after chance for The Owls.

It was another one of "those throws" from Messum that found Captain Foulger to head home. Quick thinking from Moffat saw his throw reach Bramston, who struck home for a well deserved goal to make 2-3. More chances came with Moffat and Foulger hitting the bar, Celtic scored a further goal with a deflected corner to make the final score 2-4.

Team: Hartfield, Brown, Clegg, Bell, Tift, Thomas, Moffat, Foulger, Murray, Gillings, Hearn, Messum, Howard, Bramston, and Waterhouse.

LINSLADE GREENLEAS
Linslade Greenleas Dynamo U7 v
Cranfield Colts U7
DYNAMO were given a lesson in effective team work by a well drilled Cranfield side.

The first quarter was dominated by Dynamo however, with both Owen Merrington and Charlie Waple-Moors going close.
Merrington then opened the scoring with a curled shot before Colts equalised.

The second quarter was more evenly contested with Dan Hodey and MoM Ryan Smith having to make numerous tackles.

Oscar Barnes also made some great saves to keep the Colts at bay.
With the sides level at half time Dynamo made changes by bringing on James Mallord and Kieran Carvell who both tackled well in defence.
The third quarter proved costly to Dynamo as the Colts played more fluent, simple football.

This brought them two goals; the first of which was an excellent lob over replacement keeper Smith.

Dynamo fought back with Waple-Moors hitting the post twice after two great runs.

In the final quarter Dynamo piled on the pressure as Merrington scored his second goal and Waple-Moors hit the post again.
In a game that they could have won Dynamo paid the price for playing for themselves and not for the team.

Linslade Greenleas Dynamo U7 v
Water Eaton Rockets U7
DYNAMO played some good football against an inexperienced Rockets side who tried very hard.

Dynamo opened the scoring in the first few seconds after a run down the wing by Owen Merrington whose pass was converted by MoM Charlie Waple-Moors.

Waple-Moors added a second before fellow striker Merrington scored at the near post.
Rockets then came back strongly and only some good keeping from Emily Heale kept them out.

In the second quarter Rockets did get on the score sheet with a well worked goal.

Then in the third quarter Waple-Moors added another after good work from Kieran Carvell.
Merrington then scored his second after another good run and Ryan Smith also added another.

In the final quarter both teams tired and chances were few and far between before Dan Hodey went on a great run before unselfishly providing Merrington with the pass to complete his hat-trick.
Hodey and fellow defender Oscar Barnes both put in tireless displays tackling well and keeping the shape of the team sound.

Harry Eacott and James Mallord also worked hard and are improving each week. This was a much improved performance from Dynamo.

WING RAIDERS
Pitstone and Ivinghoe 4
Wing Raiders U11 0
BEATEN by the better team, this was nonetheless a dogged effort by Raiders.

From the kick off the defence was under pressure from the opposition.
McCabe, Chapman, Giltrow and Heasman found themselves having to make some strong tackles but Pitstone and Ivinghoe scored their first goal early into the match.

Some good work by Barrett and McSweeney created a chance for Raiders but they were unlucky not to score. Their opponents then struck again with a good shot to make it 2-0.
Captain Goode then tried to rally the troops and Raiders started playing better.

Barrett had a good attempt saved by Pitstone and Ivinghoe's keeper, which would have put Raiders right back into it.
Pitstone then had good run down the wing producing their third goal, half time.

In the second half Wiggins, Brown and Allen worked tirelessly to get their team back into contention, but luck seemed to be against Raiders.

Fourth goal for Pitstone and Ivinghoe sealed a deserved victory and a penalty saved by keeper M Jones helped keep the score down.
MoM William Jones for outstanding play in defence and stepping upfront to support the attack late on.

STUDHAM YOUTH
Maulden Magpies 1
Studham Youth U16 3
IN their first game for an eternity Studham lifted themselves off the bottom with a fantastic away win against a team seven places higher than them.

The passing and moving were excellent and defending was great as Studham ran out deserved winners. They could have been out of sight after 20 minutes as they raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to Woolnough's brace. Boland was outstanding at left back with Crossey and Laid strong in the centre of defence.

Smith and Phillips were solid on the right side and Goldsmith and Marvin tough in midfield.
Nicholson patrolled left midfield and Bart complemented the forward line.

Magpies pinched a goal back but Studham stayed strong into the second half and Haesler had a couple of chances that came to no avail.
Taylor then made a great save to keep Studham ahead with Hammond on and Francis both doing their jobs superbly. Woolnough fired in from long range to complete his hat-trick and Groves coming on to see Studham finish the game on top.

Well played lads and now a local derby with Totternhoe next week has just got more interesting.
