Village team triumph over big clubs
PITSTONE AND IVINGHOE PUMAS U10
A local village side, Pitstone & Ivinghoe Pumas U10s, has been crowned MK & District Junior 7s Division One Champions.

However, this was no easy season for the Pumas. They had to get conditioned to a new football coach just before the season kicked off, played the first four tiring matches not having enough players to make substitutions and then lost their centre forward to a broken leg! They also had to come from seven points behind Woburn as late as March in order to secure top spot.

Additionally to these trials and tribulations, they competed against some of the largest and best squads from Milton Keynes to Leighton Buzzard, from Brackley to Newport Pagnell.

The final deciding 'must win' match summed up Pumas' team determination that had carried them all season. With 10 minutes remaining and drawing three apiece, they piled on the pressure against Brackley, the only team to have beaten them in the league. Pumas found that extra bit of team inspiration by scoring the all decisive winning goal.

However, Pitstone now have a fresh challenge. All the players come from Pitstone or the surrounding villages. The clubs in larger conurbations are busily reinforcing their squads. Pitstone will also need to strengthen as they move to fielding a team in the Division One 9-aside next season. Hence, they are looking for players to join this fun and successful club. They play on Saturday mornings and train on Monday evenings under floodlights in Wingrave.
