Leighton Town U13s win league
SOUTHCOTT OWLS
Southcott Owls U13 0
Square Rangers U14 6
After a long hard season for Southcott, it was good to get some reward for their hard work and perseverance.

Playing in an Under 14s league and cup competitions is hard going for a side made up of all U13s players. The Southcott side finished mid table and made it to this year's plate final held at Leighton United.
From the start the defence held on from Square's wave after wave attacking play, an excellent save from Harfield at full stretch being one of the highlights.

Dunstable's first goal came on the 20th minute and after another quick goal the flood gates opened. 0-4 at the break saw Southcott regroup and hand Square something to think about in the second half.

With two and then three up front Southcott really made a battle of it, creating a few chances, that if they were put away would have obviously changed things. It was a great performance from the U13s side, many of the players playing their best game this season.

The team was Harfield in goal. Defence was: captain Clegg, Thomas, Quinn, Tift, Gillings and Bell. Midfield of Murray, Hearn, Foulger, Bramston, Brown, Moffat, Howard, Messum and Waterhouse up front. Clegg got a mention for his excellent performance in defence at the handing out of medals.

WOODSIDE
Scot Youth 2
Woodside Rovers U12 3
Woodies saved their best performance of the season until last but were two down at half-time.

However, they secured their division one future by blowing away Scot in the second-half with a scintillating display of football. James Harman in his final game as team captain appropriately scored the winning goal with five minutes remaining.

Woodies hadn't deserved to be down at the break but first-half keeper John Shaw made two great saves to keep Woodies in it.

Straight from the restart Tom Boozer fired a great half-volley that drew an equally great save from the keeper. More was to come. Keigan Smith rounded off a storming game finding the net to reduce the arrears.

Rhys Davies had caused problems with his long throws and Charlie Mead retrieved one, cut in on his right and fired high into the net.
It wasn't all one way traffic and the defence comprising Fionn Bell, Robert Irons, Lewis Pascoe, Robbie James and the outstanding MoM Luke Boyes held firm.

But they were aided brilliantly by Harman, the ever consistent Isaac Claridge and the tireless work of Dominic Lombino.
Second-half keeper George Fidczuk needed to make one great save to ensure Woodies deservedly walked away with the points.

WING RAIDERS
Preston Gawcott 4
Wing Raiders U11 2
A great effort by Wing against the league runners-up. Wing enjoyed the early play, with both Goode (captain) and MoM Barrett going close on several occasions.

A fantastic corner from W.Jones fell to Goode who calmly slotted home 0-1.

Preston Gawcott were unable to broach the tireless defence of Chapman, Allen and McSweeney until a mispass left keeper M Jones stranded and Gawcott equalised 1-1.

Barrett nearly re-established the lead with a powerful strike just wide of the post. Wiggins then bravely headed a Gawcott free kick clear to keep the scores level at half time.

Gawcott played well at the restart and quickly scored. 2-1. Some great defending from Allen who then fed the ball to McSweeney whose great drive was saved.

With Wing tiring, Gawcott thundered forward and scored. 3-1. Keeper M.Jones remained strong and brave, despite taking a bad knock.
Wiggins and McSweeney linked up in midfield, moving the ball forward. Then neat passing between Barrett, W.Jones and Chapman set up Barrett for the goal of the game 3-2.

Unfortunately, Gawcott hit straight back. Full Time 4-2.
MoM Barrett for a tireless work rate and an outstanding goal.

Olney Town Colts 1
Wing Raiders U11 2
A great match to finish the season. The Wing defence of Chapman, Allen and Giltrow were fantastic throughout, and keeper M.Jones played a blinder.

In midfield, W.Jones, McSweeney and Wiggins kept their shape and dominated play with intelligent passing to give Barrett (capt) and Goode several scoring chances. However, Olney scored first. 1-0.
Wing's persistence paid off when McSweeney laid the ball back to the edge of the box where Wiggins struck a terrific shot over the keeper and into the top corner. Half time 1-1.

A draw looked likely with neither side able to finish off some fine moves.

Then, with two minutes left, great interplay between Goode, Barrett and McSweeney won a corner and, for the second time this season, W.Jones looped his corner kick high into the goal 1-2.

Wing went all out for a third, but when the whistle went, they knew that they had played some of their best football of the season, and that the three points lifted them off the foot of the table – well done lads!

Two MoMs: McSweeney whose positional play was outstanding, and Wiggins who controlled the game from midfield.

LEIGHTON CORINTHIANS
Some of Leighton Corinthians U8s went on a tour to remember with MK Dons.

Once again MK Dons sport and education trust made the most of the school holidays. The club arranged a tour of the north west for the junior teams involved at the various development centres around Milton Keynes.

An early start and an early surprise when the official first team coach arrived at stadium:MK to transport the four teams, four coaches, two physiotherapists and an army of excited parents.

First stop was a tour of Manchester City's ground before heading off to Crewe Alexandra for a series of matches. Then back to base camp, a four star hotel in Warrington.

A fun filled evening of the Champions League final and an early swim the next morning set everyone up for the trip across the Pennines to visit Sheffield United for another series of matches, before making the journey back down south.

Those who attended from Corinthians U8s would like to say a massive thank you to MK Dons sport and education trust for all their efforts in making this a tour to remember for all the children.
