National Cup match on February 13.
Leighton Buzzard Colts 17
Bletchley Colts 12

Buzzards ventured the short distance to Bletchley, in a must win league encounter, the winners would still be in with a strong shout of honours, the losers - almost certainly relying on results else where!
Buzzards expected a tough challenge and were very well aware of the strong home form of their opponents and meant there was everything to play for.

Bizarrely, the encounter began with the referee happy for both sides to play in very similar hooped shirts, making the game extremely difficult for spectators and players alike, as was evident by the number of opponents passing to one another in open play throughout!

Bletchley started the stronger of the two sides and were clearly very fired up for the match. Strong loose work, and forward surges, saw them deep in Buzzard territory. Buzzards moved the ball, well, but were not attacking the gain line in their normal cutting manner. Players from both sides showed huge commitment at the breakdown, as a consequence, there was little second phase ball.

The shrill repeated blasts of the whistle, were more often than not the outcome. Buzzards, trying to attack from deep, paid the ultimate penalty, when the Bletchley fly half slotted the opening score after five minutes, for 0-3.

Buzzards struck back immediately, the Bletchley scrum began a tortuous afternoon, as they were dominated by Buzzards technically more competent pack and infringed. Overton attacked quickly and burst into the Bletchley 22, quick ball at last, and some incisive running in midfield, saw Pratt ghost over in the corner, Evans narrowly missing the wide kick, 5-3.
