Alarms & Excursions into the chaos of the modern world

IF your idea of hell is the world-wide domination of mankind by gizmos and gadgets then you will empathise with the characters in Michael Frayn’s hilarious comedy, Alarms and Excursions, which comes to Milton Keynes Theatre on Monday, July 11.

Sunday, 3rd July 2011, 12:07 am

The series of eight plays sees just four actors play 24 characters and is a cautionary tale with hilarious consequences of what happens when the modern world goes wrong.

A group of four friends sit down for a quiet evening together which is ruined by bells, buzzers and a high tech corkscrew, a German tourist spends his holiday in A&E thanks to an ever changing answer phone and an in-flight announcement ends with more than a seatbelt coming undone.

It stars much-loved TV face Robert Daws who is best known for his long running role as Dr Gordon Ormerod in the ITV drama The Royal. His other credits include Outside Edge, Rock and Chips and Roger, Roger. Theatre fans would have seen the Ampthill-based actor recently at the Royal & Derngate in the side-splitting comedy of manners, Diary of a Nobody.

Also appearing in Alarms are Belinda Lang (2 Point 4 Children), Aden Gillett ( The House of Elliot’s Jack Maddox) and Serena Evans (who recently starred at MKT in The Merry Wives of Windsor).

It’s a great comedy for those Luddites among us. Running from July 11 – 16. For tickets call the box office 0844 871 7652 or visit
