Following its successful online run in January, the Leighton Buzzard Drama Group is making their unique YouTube panto ‘Robin Hood’ available to watch for free over February half term.
This fun-filled show was a hit not just in Leighton Buzzard but across the country when it premiered online via the Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre last month.
Originally geared towards their regular panto audience in their local town, the show makes comic reference to Leighton Buzzard earthquakes and the town’s famous narrow-gauge railway. However, it soon became clear that the show had become a hit across the UK.

Mark Rutherford from the Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre said: “The reach for this online show went well beyond the normal scope of the theatre. We had viewers from Glasgow down to Cornwall as well as Dublin. It was great to host this panto and feedback indicates that it was a great success!”
Reviewed by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, this innovative show is described as ‘absolutely stunning’ and a ‘high class production.’
This new version of Robin Hood involves Robin of Loxley returning from the crusades to discover Nottingham is in lockdown. The Sheriff of Nottingham has taken advantage of the situation, dictating new rules to the people of Sherwood: Wash Your Hands – Pay Your Taxes – Or Get a Smack in the Gob. It’s a topical piece, filmed with a ‘Zoom’ look and feel and is guaranteed to raise a few laughs!
You can join the Leighton Buzzard Drama Group on an hour-long festive rollercoaster ride of panto fun and enjoy the spirit of panto in the comfort of your own home. The show will be free to watch from Saturday, February 13 at 5pm via www.lbdg.org.uk.
