Living History Day is time-travelling to the High Street on Saturday (October 6), from 10am to 4pm, as residents will have the chance to see an original bi-plane, speak to wartime characters, enjoy music, and more.

To bring history to life, Leighton-Linslade Town Council (LLTC) has teamed up with Historic Promotions events company, inviting residents young and old to come and learn about both front-line and social history.

Vivien Cannon, head of cultural and economic services at LLTC, said: “Historic Promotions will share their knowlegde about what life was like at the front and for the people coping at home - what it was like in school, what kind of toys children played with.As people share their knowledge you will get engaged in personal history - and never be frightened to ask a ‘silly’ question!”

The Leighton Buzzard and District Archaeological and Historical Society will also be on hand to discuss its book, ‘Sand, Planes and Submarines: How Leighton Buzzard Shortened the First World War’.

Meanwhile, there will be wartime music from RAF Halton Quartet and Fiona Harrison to get you truly into the wartime spirit!

Get ready to enjoy: toy pewter casting, a toy soldier painting workshop, school life and period games, butter making, a company field kitchen, a machine gun section, an army first aid post, a signal drill, a training experience, and a flying corp, while you can meet an Edwardian Suffragette and policeman, and watch Punch and Judy.

On the day, no vehicles are allowed in the High Street.
