Cherry Trees Dental, owned by Dr Debbie Ganguli, won the ‘UK Best Children’s Dental Health Initiative’ accolade at the Private Dentistry Awards. Representatives from the practice were presented with a trophy during a glittering awards ceremony in London.
Debbie said: “The whole team is over the moon. We were highly commended in this category last year and have worked hard since then to spread the dental health message even further among local children, so it’s fantastic to receive this national recognition.”
The scheme is a free service to local schools which promotes dental hygiene in an interesting and informative way, linking to the national curriculum and subjects including history and science. Slide presentations, interactive discussions and children’s goody bags (fully funded by the practice) are included at each event.
Nearly 30 schools and other organisations such as Rainbows, Brownies and Beavers have benefited from the visits made by Debbie and her team.
The awards judges of the national competition were especially impressed by the team’s innovative ideas such as game show formats that engage and inspire the youngsters and added:
