Firm message is ‘sign up for networking’

Many local businesses have already registered for the next free annual Spring networking event being held at Astral Park Sports & Community Centre in Leighton Buzzard on April 23.

The event at the Johnson Drive venue starts at 5.30pm and runs until 8pm, with all businesses within a 15-mile radius of the town welcome.

The gathering has been organised by Leighton-Linslade Town Council in conjunction with the local networking group made up of LB Connect, Federation of Small Business and Central Bedfordshire Council.

Visitors will have two-and-a-half hours to share information, build their supplier base, hand out business cards, develop links with the community and discuss business support opportunities with council representatives and other organisations.

Two guest speakers will deliver useful business tips including Lucy Randall from Central Bedfordshire College, who will discuss Apprenticeships in the Modern Business, and Richard Cooper from Velocity. who will give a talk on the support and funding that is available through the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP).

A free business mailing list will also be provided to all attendees and a prize draw will take place.

A town council spokesman said: “Past events have attracted more than 130 businesses, who, following the event expressed positive feedback. It is anticipated more local businesses will attend this year’s event.

“It is important that local enterprise has a better understanding of what is available to them locally, whether on a personal or business level.

“This event will get like-minded business people working and communicating together and encourage new businesses to the town.”

Leighton-Linslade Town Council have worked with LB Connect on previous events.

The spokesman added: “LB Connect have their own experience of running business exhibitions and are involved on the town council’s partnership committee.

“They not only bring skills to this event but also bring along many successful business people who are part of their group.”

Representatives from businesses large and small can register for the event by visiting or by contacting Jo on 01525 631911 or email
