The video – which has since been removed from Facebook – shows a girl pupil at Cedars Upper School repeatedly insulting another girl who attempts to ignore her, and at one point she hits her.

An angry parent contacted the LBO after seeing the footage online.

Steven Palmer, headteacher of Cedars Upper School, said: “Cedars Upper School is a good school which has high expectations of all pupils and this type of behaviour is not tolerated.

“The matter was immediately investigated and resulted in one pupil being excluded from the school for a period of time. A fixed-term exclusion is among the highest levels of punishment a school can apply.

“Incidents like this are incredibly rare and behaviour at Cedars Upper School is judged to be consistently good by Ofsted. In their last report, they confirmed the school is ‘calm and orderly’ and that ‘pupils treat each other with respect’.”
