Reports that a child had been abducted in Linslade last week have no truth in them, police have revealed this evening.
It follows the distribution of material claiming a child had been snatched.
A Beds Police spokesman said: “We would like to reassure residents in Linslade after a report regarding an attempted child abduction turned out to be false.
“Police were called to reports in Linslade on Friday afternoon (March 20) and leaflets appealing for information were subsequently posted to residents in the area.
“Investigations over the weekend have concluded that the incident did not take place. Officers would like to thank residents for their vigilance and help in this matter.”
