Community groups benefit from success of Leighton Buzzard's carnival

A lengthy list of local groups all got a share of nearly £6,000 profit from this year's Leighton Buzzard Carnival.

At the carnival presentation night, cheques were handed to: 1st Bedfordshire Inclusive Guiding Unit, 1st Leighton Buzzard Brownies, 1st Leighton Buzzard Girls Brigade, 1st Leighton Buzzard Guides, 1st Linslade Rainbows, 7th Leighton Buzzard Rainbows, Air Cadets, Appledown Rescue & Rehoming Kennels, Breast Cancer Care, Buzzer, Dogs for Good, Doreen’s School of Dance, Friends of Leighton-Linslade in Bloom, Glee Club, Heath and Reach Scout Group, Hospice at Home Volunteers, Epilepsy Society on behalf of Jazzercise, L&D Hospital Radio, Leighton Buzzard Children’s Centre, Leighton Buzzard Day Centre, Leighton Buzzard Fire Cadets, Leighton Buzzard MS Society, Leighton Linslade Music Centre Trust, Linslade District Girl Guides, Linslade Obedience & Ringcraft Club, RNLI LB Branch, Rotary Club ‘Yes We Can’, Scoil Rince Realta, Shooting Stars, Spectrum Community Arts, Swing Dance MK, Tenacity Dance.

A spokesman for the carnival committee said: “Thanks to all who attended, and to the Royal British Legion Club for their hospitality.

“The Carnival Committee would like to thank everyone who suggested themes [for 2019] and who voted.

“The winning theme of Music Through the Ages was suggested by the Friends Within (Mencap) group. We look forward to a varied, and loud, procession on 13th July 2019!”
