Police have this morning confirmed that the body recovered from the River Ouzel in Leighton Buzzard earlier this week was that of missing man Neil Devlin.

A member of the public had alerted the police at 2.45pm on Monday after seeing a body in the river close to Taylor’s Ride.

Mr Devlin, of Town Bridge Mill, Leighton Road, worked as a car park assistant at Leighton’s Morrisons.

The 37-year-old had been last seen on New Year’s Day wearing a dark anorak style jacket with a hood, a dark top and jeans.

Bedfordshire Police had carried out house-to-house enquiries, studied CCTV and conducted specialist river searches in the weeks following Mr Devlin’s disappearance.
