Delivery driver attacked in ‘violent’ attempted robbery in Leighton Buzzard

A delivery driver was punched and kicked to the floor during an attempted robbery after being followed by two men in Leighton Buzzard last night.

The violent attack happened at around 7pm when the victim got out of his car to make a food delivery in Centauri Close.

He was approached by two men from a nearby parked silver BMW, with a 55 registration plate, who told the delivery man to hand over everything he had before punching and kicking him to the ground, but the offenders fled empty handed, got back into the BMW and drove away.

The victim was left with several lumps to his face and head, a black eye and numerous lacerations to his face, hands and legs.

Detective Constable Ben Stone, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack or may have information about the offenders.

DC Stone said: “This was a very violent attack on a man who was going about his daily business and it is imperative that we find the people responsible.

“I’m keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the silver BMW, which was described as being very dirty, before or after this incident.

“We believe that the car – which was being driven by a female with mousey, shoulder length hair - followed the victim from Steppingstone Close to Centauri Close and I’d like to hear from anyone with further information.”
