Detectives are hunting two youths following an attempted robbery on a 15-year-old boy as he took a shortcut to school on Tuesday (February 11).

The victim was walking through Churchill Park in Leighton Buzzard at 8.45am listening to music on his headset when he noticed two other youths travelling towards him.

Before reaching the victim one of the duo, riding a mountain bike with distinctive pink rims and mouldy looking handle bars, cycled away but the second youth barged in to the victim and demanded he hand over his phone and empty his pockets.

The culprit, who is described as white, 6ft 3ins tall, with a skinny build, wearing a grey hooded top and a scarf over his face, left the scene empty handed.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Det Con David Elias, is keen to speak with anyone who recognises the description given or anyone who knows a young man who rides a similar mountain bike as the one described.

Anyone with information can contact Det Con Elias at Luton Police Station, in confidence, on 01582 394376, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
