Leighton Buzzard Society is mourning the death of its vice chairman Harry Maughan.
The 79-year-old, of Golden Riddy, Linslade, had been a stalwart of the society for many years, making representations to councils and attending meetings to put the society’s views forward.
A spokesman said: “He had a tremendous depth of knowledge on the history and workings of local government and as a committee member served in various capacities recently standing down from temporary chairman to become vice chairman.
“He had a passion for railways actively engaged in discussion on the extension of the varsity line. His contribution to promoting the LBS will be sorely missed.”
