Competitors will be hoping to batter the opposition at the annual Heath and Reach pancake race next Tuesday (February 17).
Organised by the Women’s Institute, the races at the Royal British Legion, Thrift Road start at 1.30pm, although there will be refreshments from 11am and light lunches available from midday in the Legion.
A WI spokesman said: “This year we are raising funds for a local charity First Responders. They are a group of volunteers who have been trained to use defibrillators and oxygen equipment. They respond to 999 calls with the equipment, normally reaching those in need first and so they are able to give treatment in those vital early minutes until the emergency services arrive.”
