Dream of a show at Vandyke Upper

Vandyke students recently performed their version of Midsummer Night’s Dream in which students from Years 9-13 performed together in a wonderful production of this piece by William Shakespeare.

Created in The Arts Factory at Vandyke, the adaption used the original language and was supplemented with music and song. Stunning projected backdrops set the scene with excellent costumes created by the students.

Strong performances were in abundance with sixth form students Seb Cridland, Kyle Gallagher, Chloe Benning and Chloe McGuire playing the “lovers” who wander through the woods falling in and out of love with each other helped by the antics of Puck and Oberon.

The fairy and sprite choruses led by Molly Wasway as Titania were wonderful, using physicality and vocalisation maturely and creatively at all times. The “mechanicals” added the comedy factor with the final play within a play causing much humorous audience response. A wonderful production led by The Arts Factory team working with students from all years.

The Arts Factory have now started a new project which will be performed later in the school year.
