Foundations for a school expansion

A crowd of 250 people weathered the rain showers to gather together to take part in the foundation stone ceremony at Pulford Lower School.

If you have walked through the park (the ‘rec’) and passed the school in recent months you will have noticed the school extension taking shape.

The foundation stone ceremony was led by Canon Grant Fellows of All Saints Church, and supported by Father Creighton. The beautiful stone was blessed and ceremoniously laid in its resting place at the corner of the new building. A choir of 80 children took part and sang most enthusiastically; they even managed to encourage some of the builders to take part in the singing and clapping to Shine Jesus Shine!

Headteacher David Heather led the singing, Brian Willett read a bible passage and then Jim Meager prayed for the school and this new chapter in Pulford’s history. Having both been past Headmasters at the school it was really important to have them share in this service as Pulford celebrated its past and also looked forward to the future.

A spokesman said: “It was also good to have the support of parents, staff, governors, builders and friends at this special event.

“The new build will be open this September and we are grateful to the local building companies – mainly TCW and BIZZ general builders – for their work on this project so far.

“As we expand the school, we look forward to welcoming more new families from our local community into the ‘Pulford Family’.”
