Home-made festive fayre and speciality coffee were on offer at the White House when Leighton mayor, Cllr Ray Berry, hosted a Christmas charity coffee morning.
Several members of the public, town councillors and dignitaries from neighbouring towns – including the chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council, Cllr David Bowater - were brave enough to venture out in the adverse weather.
They were invited to take part in a ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ competition and buy tickets for the raffle and tombola.
The Mayor’s charities include Kidsout, Macmillan Cancer Support, Leighton Buzzard Narrow Guage Railway and the Leighton Linslade District Scouts Association.
Cllr Berry wsaid: “I’d like to thank everyone who supported the event and in particular Alison Thompson who kindly donated most of the refreshments and the Christmas cake for the competition.
“I’m also grateful to Espresso Head for their kind donation of the coffee and to those volunteers who helped out on the morning.”
