More than 600 people are expected to attend a glamorous evening at Luton’s Venue Central on Friday, October 10 when the winners of this year’s Luton and Bedfordshire Community Awards will be announced.

Every guest will be invited to make a donation of non-perishable food for Luton Foodbank, which will benefit from the gala event.

Headline sponsors Pictons have been inundated with nominations, with entries up 10 percent on last year.

There are 17 categories ranging from Young Hero to Service With a Smile, Teacher of the Year to Parent in a Million and Picton’s Luton Award for the community-minded who work tirelessly for others.

Awards founder Mostaque Koyes said: “Every year we raise thousands of pounds for great causes. Local people and local companies are so generous, even in hard times.”

Judges include Luton MPs Kelvin Hopkins and Gavin Shuker as well as Barry Mayes of the Luton&Dunstable Hospital and News/Gazette editor Lynn Hughes.
