A teaching assistant at Greenleas Lower School is hoping to win Miss Charity Bedfordshire for the third time.

Emily Batchelor, 23, of Wavendon, is hoping to complete the hat trick this year, having won it in 2008 and last year.

She is hoping to go one better this year and win the main title at the Miss Bedfordshire awards.

The Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant said: “I have been raising money for Beauty With A Purpose, who will be donating all the money to children’s charities in Bedfordshire.

“As a teaching assistant I feel very passionate about supporting children’s charities, particularly those in the local area.

“I am hoping to raise more than £1500 this year and be awarded the Miss Charity Bedfordshire title for a third time.”

Emily has been supported by Luton Town Football Club this year.

She was joined by her friends outside the gates at the team’s home game against Exeter City earlier this month, they raised £800.

Emily’s boyfriend Tom Jones has applied for the Mr Bedfordshire competition.

She said: “It would be the icing on the cake if Tom won the title, and I won Miss Bedfordshire.

“It is great to be a positive role model for young children and I love taking part in the competition.

“I have made some friends over the years and we all have a lot of fun but it is still a competition and everyone wants to win.”

The awards night is on Sunday, May 10.
