A collection of unique Great Train Robbery items performed “very well” under the hammer, according to auctioneer JP Humbert.

The haul, which went up for sale last Tuesday, included a coat of arms from Linslade Magistrates Court, a piece of the railway line the train stopped on and original notes stolen in the robbery.

Auctioneer JP Humbert would not disclose the totals each item went for but indicated that the sale proved popular.

A spokesman said: “It went very well and many of the items aroused a great deal of interest from the general public.”
