After 100 hours rehearsal time, five days of set building, two dress rehearsals and one band night, Leighton Buzzard Drama Group’s team of 30 cast and crew has launched its Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates pantomime.
This fun show, featured at the Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre, runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until January 24.
Cast with local talent, including Vandyke graduate Saskia McShane as the stunning leading lady who wows us with her singing abilities, Jo Taylor as the swashbuckling Robinson Crusoe and panto legend John Stone as Captain Cut-Throat, this production guarantees you a night of fun and panto magic!
“This talented team have really gone the extra mile with this show,” said the show’s director, Andrew Meadows. “They have volunteered so much of their free time over the last three months and it’s been great to see the locals support the show with great ticket sales so far.”
The production hasn’t run completely without hitches however! Last-minute hiccups included lost voices, set-building snags and the learning how to wear two-foot high wigs!
“One particular problem was realising that we’d built a part of a set that was too big to fit onto the stage,” laughs Andrew. “However, our wiz-kid set-builders got out their saws and screw-drivers at the last minute and adapted the set to work!”
Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates runs Thursday and Friday nights at 7.15pm, and Saturdays at 11am, 2.30pm and 6pm until Saturday, January 24. Book your tickets online at www.lbdg.org.uk or by calling 0300 300 8125.
