A glider pilot failed to see a met mast at the site of the controversial Dorcas Lane wind farm plan as he came in to land near Stoke Hammond.
The incident – which gave the pilot a “scare when he realised” – involved a glider from the London Gliding Club, Dunstable. The pilot apparently did not realise the mast was on the site until he had actually landed his glider.
“These masts are a nuisance to low level aviation as they are unmarked,” said Andrew Roch, club secretary.
“A glider landed there and had failed to see the mast.”
Olympic volunteers, or Gamesmakers, are having a reunion on Wednesday at Buzzard Sports, North Street, Leighton.
All Gamesmakers are welcome.
