THE body of a Linslade resident who had been missing for six days was discovered in woods off Wing Road last night.

Paul Jacob, 25, was found dead by volunteers from the Search and Rescue Organisation, who had been called in to assist Bedfordshire Police – the death is not being treated as suspicious.

He was reported missing by staff at St Barnabas Church in Waterloo Road, on Saturday, and officers were very concerned for the man’s welfare as he has been suffering from depression.

Mr Jacob was last seen on Wednesday June 20, when he was wearing dark blue jeans along with a distinctive black t-shirt bearing the message ‘I have the body of a god, even if it’s only a Buddha’ along with a small picture of Buddha on it.

His family have been notified and a post mortem to establish the cause of death will be carried out tomorrow, while an inquest will be officially opened in the next couple of days.

Detective Inspector Sean Quinn praised the volunteers and the public for their support in the search.

He said: “My sincere thanks go to the volunteers from the Search and Rescue team who helped us look for Paul and also members of the public who provided valuable information and assistance.

“His untimely death is very sad and our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
