A Leighton gas engineer proved to be a model citizen when he picked up a prize at the Liverpool Fashion and Beauty Awards.

Dan Francis, 31 had been campaigning for votes since he was nominated for Male Model of the Year after being spotted at the previous year’s awards ceremony where he was the face of the male tanning range nouvatan/nouvaman.

On the big night at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool, hosted by fashion blogger and journalist Simon Glazin, there were more than 240 people in attendance. Dan admitted his palms got more than a little sweaty!

The ex-Vandyke Upper pupil, of Hockliffe Street, said: “We was welcomed with drinks, a red carpet and photos, all shown to our tables that had gift bags with products from hotel chocolat, St Moriz tanning and Paul Mitchell. After the starter was served my award was up first and I was terrified!

“When they announced my name it was so intense and surreal, I had to give a small speech and thanked everybody who took the time out to vote for me as the winner, we then could enjoy the rest of the night and the rest of the amazing dinner and drinks as the pressure was off!

“Since the awards I’ve been awarded a slot on the male model line-up on Liverpool Fashion Week and a nice shiny trophy.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Adam at Fogarty’s for supplying me with the suit and for making sure I was dressed to impress, to Tanya Moyes for a perfect tan for the night and to everybody who took the time out to vote for me!”

Dan’s been in the modelling business for about a year, in which time he has modelled for national publications such as Attitude magazine, for the front cover of VanityHype magazine, and even been displayed on the front cover of an American romance novel.

As well as being a model, Dan works for The Vale of Aylesbury Trust as a gas engineer.
