The Musical Theatre High! Academy in Leighton Buzzard presented its annual Variety Performance at The Venue MK, celebrating the school’s fourth year and the world of musical theatre.
The show opened with the Junior and Senior classes strongly led by the MTH! Boys with Electricity from the powerful musical Billy Elliot.
More than 180 children took to the stage performing hits from shows such as Aladdin, Mary Poppins and the Carole King musical Beautiful, including a James Bond section with power ballads a plenty!
At the end of the final performance, principal Richard Reynard and assistant Kate West made speeches praising the students for their hard work, progression and dedication to the Academy.
The After School Club Scholarship was presented to Benjamin Young, the Junior Dance Scholarship to Halle Bainbridge, the Senior Dance scholarship to Abby Davies.
The Junior Musical Theatre Scholarship went to Nicole Janes and Senior Musical Theatre Scholarship to Aimee Brooker. Trophies were awarded to Holly-Marie Seller ( The Rosie May Annual Scholarship) for her strong work ethic in last year’s charity performance of Legally Blonde.
The Special Achievement Award went to siblings Immy and Toby Ward for both improving for individual reasons. The Boys Award was won by Spencer Digby, fighting off his strong competition of 45 other lads who attend the school.
The prestigious Scarlett Strallen Stand Out Award was presented to Molly Wasway for her outstanding performance in the show and Georgia McKelwee was asked to be the Academy’s Head Girl for her remaining time at the school.
Richard said: “As the Musical Theatre High! Academy goes into its fifth year we commends the students’ personal achievements as individuals on and off stage.”
