A celebration of the start of Wing’s very own Community Library took place this weekend with famous authors turning up to join in on the launch.
On Saturday, children and adults were invited to dress up as their favourite storybook character and visit the library’s launch on Leighton Road, joined by popular children’s author Julia Jarman, who hosted a morning children’s hour and thriller writer S J Bolton hosted a session in the afternoon.
Alongside this, local groups staged displays, as well as a story-writing competition and a celebratory cake donated by county councillor Netta Glover was cut.
Sally Chapman, Chairman of Wing Community Library Steering Group, said: “It was a really good day and hopefully we raised more awareness of the library.
“We’re fortunate in having a lively, dedicated core group of volunteers who are exceptional in their commitment.
“We’ll do our absolute best to ensure the library continues as a valuable resource for the community to promote the love of books and education, and also as a community hub.”
In partnership with Buckinghamshire County Council, the library will be run by volunteers, and so far 20 are being trained, led by an eight member management group.
