Proposals to build 150 new homes in Eaton Bray have generated more than 100 letters of objection.
Developers Amberville Property Ltd want to build the houses off Totternhoe Road on Green Belt land adjacent to the village, effectively going over its traditional boundary.
Some locals fear that the new estate would overburden the village’s resources. Catherine Gadd said: “We have lived in Totternhoe Road for nearly 40 years and over the last 12 years have suffered greatly from flooding.
“In my opinion, the village cannot cope with 150 extra homes as we have not got the infrastructure required.”
A formal inspection of the site suggested the risk of flooding was in fact low. A decision on the plans is aimed to be reached by March 9.
