Our Girl, the ten-part series currently showing on BBC One, has a few surprise links with our area.
Scenes from the one-off special last year – set in Afghanistan - were in fact filmed in Bryants Quarry at Heath and Reach.
Owned by LB Silica Sands, the quarry comes complete with cliffs, sand dunes and ravines. It also has a yellow-orange sand that stands in as a suitable substitute for the Middle East.
Scenes from The Da Vinci Code and The Mummy Returns have been filmed there, and quarry owners are on the lookout to attract more film producers to the site.
Our Girl stars Lacey Turner as a teenager who joins the army as a medic.
