The festival, like many others this year, was curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however the Greensand Country Festival 2021 organisers say they are determined to come "back with a bang".

The month long event will take place in May 2021 and will showcase all the unique features of Greensand Country and its attributes.

Defined by the Greensand Ridge, Greensand Country is an island of distinctive, beautiful and loved countryside stretching from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay, which rises out of the surrounding clay vales. The area contains all of Bedfordshire’s remaining heathland, over half of its woodland and more historic parkland than anywhere else in the country.

The Greensand Country Festival 2021 will include music, guided walks, historic storytelling, ride outs, poetry and lots and lots of local food. There really will be something for everyone.

Nigel Carnell, Greensand Country board member, said: “We are pleased to be in a position to start promoting the festival again.

“It is a great opportunity for local residents to learn more about our landscape which is rich in wildlife and cultural heritage.

“The woods, parklands and miles of footpaths and bridleways make Greensand Country perfect for days out on foot, bike and horseback.

“There is plenty to explore and lockdown has shown how important it is to get outdoors and reconnect with nature for your personal wellbeing.

“The local festival will take place across the entire landscape during May. Watch out for a comprehensive festival guide being delivered to your door. This guide not only covers the festival but the entire Greensand Country experience, giving you lots of ideas of where and what to explore for the whole of 2021.”

Greensand Country would like to thank the landlord for the use of the shop window, The Greensand Trust for generously supplying the Christmas trees, and the Greensand Country volunteers.
