Plans to turn a travellers’ site into a retirement park– which a developer claimed would “forever remove the fear” for residents in Cublington and Wing– have been rejected.

Wyldecrest Parks is fighting to convert the 1.09 hectare site off Cublington Road, Wing, into a park for the retired and semi-retired, with eight plots for premium mobile homes.

The firm, which bought the site for £220,000 from Bucks County Council, said its plans for the site would prevent a repeat of the “misery endured by the local community” caused by its previous occupants.

In planning documents the firm added that “for years the inhabitance of surrounding villages lived in fear of vandalism, intimidation, theft and violence, culminating in April 2009 when the site was totally vandalised, provoking the county to sell the site.”

A fortnight ago the LBO revealed that the proposals had been recommended for refusal by Aylesbury Vale District Council.

Following a site visit councillors backed the recommendation and rejected the plans on Thursday.
