History lovers are in for a treat this Saturday as an elaborate exhibition is held at All Saints Church to mark 800 years of Magna Carta.
The Knights Templar will host the exhibition, which includes 12 large embroidery panels made by a team of women volunteers. Similar to the Bayeux Tapestry, the panels illustrate scenes of events all associated with Magna Carta.
Newly handwritten copies of Magna Carta will also be on display. These incorporate the arms of the 48 counties to which the original Magna Carta volumes were dispatched following the agreement on June 15, 1215, when King John met the rebel Barons on the meadows at Runnymede.
The exhibition will run from 10am to 5pm.
