Leighton Buzzard Post Office is encouraging local retailers and shoppers to enter the Great British High Street Awards.

It’s one of a range of high street chains including Boots, Costa, Argos and Marks & Spencer which belong to The Future High Streets Forum.

The group, comprising businesses and government, is responsible for revitalising the nation’s high streets and is running the competition.

LB PO manager Louisa Telling said: “It’s to showcase just what makes the nation’s high streets great places to visit, shop and socialise in the UK.

“We’d like to encourage people to nominate their local high street – whether it’s in their own town or city centre or one of the smaller ones in the surrounding area – to give it and the retailers who work there the recognition they deserve.”

There are seven categories including best city centre high street, best coastal community high street and best parade of shops.

Winners will receive a share of an £80,000 prize pot as well as dedicated support, mentoring and marketing advice from industry experts.

Nominations close on September 1. For more details go to
