Trapped man rescued after two lorries and one car in collision on A4146 near Leighton Buzzard

Two lorries and one car collided on Leighton Buzzard's nearby A4146 bypass leaving a man trapped and injured.

The incident happened around 9am this morning and motorists reported that lanes were at a “standstill” and that fire and ambulance crews were at the scene.

A Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue spokesman, said: “Two lorries and one car were in a road traffic collision.

“One male was trapped with his injuries and we used cutting equipment to free him.

“He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Two pumps, one from Leighton Buzzard and one from Dunstable, were in attendance as well as a special rescue unit from Stopsley.”

An East of England Ambulance spokesman, said: “Two rapid response vehicles were called to the A4146 near Soulbury today (Nov 21) shortly after 9am, following reports of a road traffic collision involving two lorries and a car.

“Three patients were assessed at the scene and one was transported to Luton and Dunstable Hospital for further assessment and care.”
