Linslade Woods has been given the highest award under the Anglia in Bloom – It’s Your Neighbourhood Scheme.

The site received was judged Level 5 Outstanding to the delight of the Friends of Linslade Woods (FoLW).

Ken Barry, from FoLW, said: “We are obviously very pleased at receiving this award as it is an indication that all the hard work carried out by volunteers throughout the year has paid off.

“This award recognises and highlights that people in Linslade are benefitting from a green space of the very highest quality. Well managed green spaces, as well as being good for wildlife, are vital to the health and wellbeing of the local community”.

In addition to their regular programme of coppicing and woodland management the volunteers have also recently constructed a number of new bench seats in the woods with funding provided by Waitrose.

The benches have been installed at special scenic areas where people can relax, appreciate and enjoy the natural beauty of the Woods and the wildlife.

The Friends of Linslade Woods, working in partnership with the Greensand Trust and Central Bedfordshire Council, have a regular programme of action days, wildlife walks and other events throughout the year.

New volunteers are very welcome to take part in their activities and further information can be obtained from Ken Barry on 01525 372036.
