The living dead will invade Leighton Buzzard this Halloween, as a zombie pub crawl groans into action.
If The Boneyard and 28 Days Later left you shivering in terror, it will be best to stay out of the town centre on October 31, as man of mystery ‘Dr Brains’ invites locals to dress up like the deceased and join his pub crawl.
The evening starts at 7.30pm in The Golden Bell, and the zombies will continue on to the Black Lion, The Swan Hotel, The Cranky Weasel, Mr Ridgway’s, The Picture House and The Lancer.
“I’m hoping to make it a regular Halloween event and put Leighton Buzzard on the map,” groaned the organiser, who wanted only to known as ‘Dr Brains’.
“It will be great to see locals getting together as zombies, and the Golden Bell are also running their own fancy dress competition, so there’s a chance to enter if you feel you have an impressive costume!”
‘Dr Brains’ was inspired to rise from the grave and start the apocalyptic evening after seeing a zombie bar crawl in Stony Stratford and feeling in vein.
The bloody Buckinghamshire night started as a small event run by a few companions around five years ago, and ‘Dr Brains’, with the help of his own friends, would like to organise something as successful in LBO land.
“This is the first year and hopefully it will gain momentum – now people can do something on their doorstep rather than having to travel,” he said.
“I’m also hoping to raise funds for charity and collect money in tims as we visit each pub.”
Those wanting to get involved in the creepiness should also keep an eye on the ‘Leighton Buzzard Zombie Pub Crawl’ Facebook site, as Dr Brains invites any make-up artists to advertise their services on the event page.
“My name was inspired by a film with a zombie dressed as a doctor and I’m looking forward to seeing all the different outfits,” he said. “You can put a little effort in or go really over the top!”
The zombie crawl is only open to flesh eaters over 18.
