Leighton Corinthians have been around for a long time, but for the first time this year, they have fielded a girls’ team.
The U10 team set up earlier this year has been training intensely since forming.
And although they haven’t been in league action yet, they’re aiming to enter the local girls league for the 2015-16 season.
But putting all the training to pracice, the girls, coached by Tracey Corkett and Rei Kilroy, played their first friendly game at home against Water Eaton last weekend.
In their first match together, Corinthians produced a fine display of football.
“It was great to see the enthusiasm from all the girls,” said Leighton Corinthians committee member Mike Smith.
“They showed great passion and determination to play as a team which delighted their two coaches.”
