Lathaniel Rowe-Turner started the 3-1 victory at Southport on Saturday and was replaced in the second half by Simon Ainge.

Scott Rendell, Town’s hero against Norwich City, was on the bench too as was goalkeeper Dean Brill and on selecting the players he was looking to offload, Still added: “Whoever’s here at the football club you can’t ignore, that’s not right.

“They’re contracted players, we had positions to fill and we’ve got to fill them.

“So I wouldn’t treat players disrespectfully, it’s not the right thing.

“It was hard for them, of course it is. If I’d have asked them, I didn’t ask, but I think they’d have wanted to play because it’s also a shop window as well.

People were here for whatever reason, they do okay and then they go away and think he’s available and did okay.”
