Leighton Buzzard Men’s 1sts extended their undefeated run to an incredible 10 games with a fine 6-2 win over Sonning 3rds.
The first goal coming quickly from a Matt Franklin bullet pass which rebounded off the keeper for Tommi Lakins to coolly slot into the bottom corner.
With Leighton taking their foot of the peddle Sonning pushed forward exposing defensive lapses and scored two quick goals.
But Leighton were soon back on level terms as Lakins grabbed his second.
Leighton’s third goal quickly followed through Nick Marshall who expertly dispatched a penalty flick.
A tough midfield battle saw Sam Gale pass the ball to Tristan Hardy who threaded a pinpoint pass to Fry who calmly mocked his defender before sending a reverse stick shot coolly down the middle of the goal.
Fry added a second to his tally by clearing up a rebound and lifting the goal into an empty net.
In the final few minutes Leighton closed off the game and with Fry sealing has hat-trick after receiving an early Christmas present from the Sonning left back gifting him a one on one with the keeper, slotting the ball into the goal.
Leighton Ladies 1sts were edged out in a seven goal thriller against Stevenage 2nds. Goals from Hollie Taylor, Gabbie Avola and Clare Fitzboydon fired Leighton 3-0 up, but incredibly switched off to allow Stevenage not only back into the game, but to take victory 4-3.
The Men’s 2nds were 6-2 winners against Ramgarhia 2nds. Goals from Ben Smith (2), Ashley Barnett (3) and David Jackson completed the rout.
The Fledglings made it a clean sweep for the men as they beat St Albans 8ths 3-2. St Albans took the lead before William Giltrow equalised for Leighton and James Trumper fired them 2-1 up just before half time.
Matt Carter added a third in the second half, and St Albans scored with 10 minutes remaining to bring the scores closer.
The Ladies Fledglings were narrowly beaten by Welwyn Ladies 4ths, going down 1-0.
