Leighton ladies were out of luck on their St Patrick’s Day clash with club Seniors for the Barney Hallam trophy, winning just one of the 15 matches.

But that single success was a scalp well worth having, Ladies Captain Christine Rimmer and her Vice Captain Sandra Carter beating their respective husbands, Seniors skipper Ian and club President Brian, by two holes.

Barbara Rickard and Beryl Wood halved their match against Jeff Bell and Mike Turnock; Stephanie Howlett and Lila Garrod shared the spoils in their match with Harry Adam and Geoff Allatt, and Margaret Osborne and Ann Grey tied with Simon Warrington and Chris Chehade.

But the Seniors strolled home with 11 wins, leaving Ladies Captain Christine to present the Barney Hallam trophy to the husband she beat in the opening match.
