As the cricket season approaches once again, Leighton Buzzard CC are asking local young cricketers to ‘Give it a Go’ before things kick off.
On Sunday April 20, the club are running an open day at their ground in Lake Street called ‘Give it a Go.’
The day will run from 11am until 4pm and is an opportunity to try cricket for under 16s boys and girls.
All abilities are welcome to go along.
The club will again be running seven junior cricket teams during the 2015 season in the Bedfordshire Youth League. There will be teams at 4 different age levels.
Outdoor training at the Lake Street Ground for the Junior players will start on the following dates:-
Monday April 20 under 12 from 6:30pm until 8 pm
Tuesday April 21 under 16 from 6:45pm to 8:15pm.
Wednesday April 22 under 14 from 6:30pm until 8pm
Friday April 24 under 10 from 6:30pm until 8pm.
A player’s age is taken as at 1st September 2014.
Outdoor nets for senior players have already started ahead of the new campaign.
They are held each Thursday evening from 6:15pm onwards.
After a solid campaign in Cherwell League Division 1 last time out, Leighton will be keen to push on this season.
Their season gets underway with a mouth watering clash against local rivals Great Brickhill on May 9 at Bell Close.
On the same day, the 2nds take on Great Brickhill 2nds at Rotten Row.
Prior to that, the 1st XI will take on Kibworth in the cup on April 26.
Leighton 3rds get their season underway even earlier than the rest, with their Four Counties Division 7 campaign getting started on Saturday April 25 as they play host to New City 3rds, from Milton Keynes.
