This Friday (December 12) is the 30th anniversary of Geoff and Liz taking over as landlord and lady at The Wheatsheaf in North Street, Leighton – and to help them celebrate will be Southside Jimmy with his fine brand of Glasgow rock!
All the way from the Gorbals of Glasgow to The Wheatsheaf, but Southside Jimmy has made it to play rock that will delight all who come to see!
Southside Jimmy, pictured, is now based in Milton Keynes and is well-known amongst rock connoisseurs as the four-piece band playing quite regularly in the local area.
The play lists include great music from U2, Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, Stones and some Red Hot Chilis – plus much more! The band are: Jimmy on vocals and guitar (his journey includes gigs in London in the 80’s, playing bass and singing with Mike Oldfield and touring with Bonnie Tyler), Keef – also on guitar and vocals, Jez on the bass (from St Albans – toured with Crowded House) and Big Dog (is that really his name?) on drums and tattoos!
Vocals are also enhanced by ‘Jo Five Whiskies’ and she is their ‘honorary fifth member’.
The Pistols were booked to play on Saturday, however due to a band member sustaining an injury following an accident, they have had to cancel. An alternative is being sought (check the pub’s website for updates).
Music at The Wheatie starts at 9.30pm and entry is free.
