Friday night (March13)at the Wheatsheaf in North Street, Leighton, sees the return of popular rock band Southside Jimmy.

Jimmy, originally from Glasgow’s Gorbals, is now based in Milton Keynes with his band and always gets great support at the Wheatsheaf.

Well known amongst rock connoisseurs, the four-piece band play regular gigs in and around the local area. Play lists include great music from U2, Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, Stones and some Red Hot Chilis and now also some of Jimmy’s great self-penned original numbers like ‘Fool’ and ‘Garden’.

The band are: Jimmy on vocals and guitar (his journey includes gigs in London in the 80’s, playing bass and singing with Mike Oldfield and touring with Bonnie Tyler), Keef – also on guitar and vocals, Jez on the bass (from St Albans - toured with Crowded House) and Big Dog (is that really his name?) on drums and tattoos! Vocals are also enhanced by ‘Jo Five Whiskies’ and she is their ‘honorary fifth member’.

On Saturday (March 14), popular modern and classic rock covers band Dynamite Chicken make a welcome return trip to the Wheatie. The band, now in their ninth year, are currently: Lee Gleeson on vocals and bad jokes, Adi on the guitar, Séan (aka Captain Cool) is the bass man and backing vocals and Deno whacks the drums and contributes to the backing vocals. As you may have already guessed, Dynamite Chicken are a fun band to hear and see!

Numbers you can expect to hear played include: Hard to Handle, Turning Japanese, Chelsea Daggers, Whole Lotta Rosie, The Wickerman, and Sex on Fire.

Music starts about 9:30pm on both evenings and entrance is free.
