On New Year’s Eve the Banned are back in town at The Wheatsheaf in Leighton to delight the audience with their repertoire from the 60s, 70s and 80s – and a few more recent numbers for those lucky enough to be too young to remember the earlier decades!
Covering three decades of rock, blues and pop, Banned, have a play list of well over a 100 numbers and can possibly be persuaded to waive from the plan if a reasonable request is made.
The range of artists covered include AC DC, Blonde, Beatles, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Kings of Leon, Kinks, The Monkees, Muse, The Police, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Stones, T Rex and many more including a few off beat numbers from Darkness, Mika or Jessie J to test Tobias’ higher octaves!
Together now for nine years, Banned are Tobias (guitar and lead vocals), Gordon (drums and backing vocals) and Steve (bass and backing vocals).
Entry for this gig is by advance ticket only - £8 per person and that includes the first drink!
On the Friday, January 2 the stage is thrown open to YOU!
It’s the first open mic night of 2015 and anyone wishing to perform should contact Letty on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Unusually for the Wheatie, Saturday is a Ska night with ‘Ska Man’ Rankin’ Robbie. He will perform cover versions of favourite 2 Tone Ska classics to be danced along to!
Robbie plays and sings along to backing tracks mixed on computer things by himself.
Lots of great tunes like The Specials’s A Message To You, Madness’s It Must Be Love, UB40, Bob Marley and Ken Boothe.
Music starts at 9.45pm for both gig evenings and entrance is free.
