St Giles Church in Cheddington welcome back the popular Manor House String Quartet for their annual Christmas concert, held in this historic rural Church on Friday (December 12).
This year, the concert will feature pieces from the quartet’s acclaimed albums of unique carol arrangements ‘I Saw Three Ships’ and ‘It Came Upon The Midnight Clear’, which have received critical acclaim and become a regular part of the December playlist on many classical radio stations around the world, including Classic FM here in the UK.
The concert will be light and entertaining in nature, with the group performing a selection of well known festive pieces such as We Three Kings, Hark the Herald Angels Sing’, the Sans Day Carol, arrangements from Handel’s Messiah, and extracts from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.
Tickets are £10 (full) or £7 (concessions) and are available from Stewart Miles on 01296 660427 or 07773 786864, and on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be served and the Church will be heated and beautifully lit by candles and lanterns. Proceeds from the concert will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of St Giles Church.
