The smell and sound of Christmas will permeate the air of a church in Leighton Buzzard later this month.

The grand Christmas concert featuring The Leighton-Linslade Concert Band and Linslade Singers can be heard at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, December 17.

The joint concert will feature many Christmas songs and popular music.

The Linslade Singers is a choir of around 30 voices. Specialising in singing unaccompanied choral music, the choir also performs works that are accompanied by piano/organ or a chamber orchestra.

The choir, which has been running since 1977, enjoys a reputation for high quality choral singing in the Leighton Buzzard and Linslade area of Bedfordshire.

Their reputation also spreads far beyond this area as they have spent many weekends singing in British cathedrals and other churches.

Established in the summer of 2008, the Leighton-Linslade Concert Band is a concert band - a wind orchestra - consisting of woodwind, brass and percussion.

The band has members from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Entrance to the concert is free and a licensed bar is also available.

As if the occasion wasn’t festive enough, there will be mulled wine and mince pies served on the night.

Entrance to the concert is free. A retiring collection will be held on behalf of Leighton’s Homeless at Christmas and Sacred Heart Church.

The band and choir are both seeking new members and it is hoped the concert will attract some new blood.
